Stardew Valley: Best Fall Crops

Stardew Valley: Best Fall Crops

As a seasoned farmer with years of cultivating crops under my belt, I must say that the crops listed here are indeed quite the gold mines! From the humble Beet to the exotic Fairy Rose, each one brings a unique value to our farm life.

Thanks to Sweet Gem Berry, fall is the most lucrative farming season in Stardew Valley, with potential earnings exceeding 6,000 Gold. However, Sweet Gem Berry isn’t the only top crop to harvest in fall. Several other options, which are easier to mass-produce, can surpass the profitability of this magical berry.

As a seasoned farmer with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that deciding which crops to grow during fall is no small task. However, I’ve learned over time that having the right resources at hand can make all the difference. That’s why I’d like to share with you a guide I put together, focusing on the top-performing fruits and vegetables for fall farming.

Fall Crop Tier List

The Best Of The Best In Terms Of Profit

Stardew Valley: Best Fall Crops

Tier Fall Crops
S Cranberry, Grape
A Sweet Gem Berry, Pumpkin
B Broccoli, Fairy Rose

Tier List Criteria:

  • S: Crops that are easy to farm and yield considerable profit. (Cranberry and grape seeds are relatively cheap, increasing the profit margin.)
  • A: Crops that may not be easy to farm but are profitable. (Sweet Gem Berry is the most valuable fall crop. Pumpkin, on the other hand, is a profitable option for those seeking a reliable and sturdy crop.)
  • B: Exotic crops that are fun to harvest—and can be profitable as well. (Broccoli and Fairy Rose seeds are difficult to obtain. But both of them are interesting crops to have on the farm and can be sold for a reasonable profit.)

Best Overall Fall Crop: Cranberry

A Crop That Ticks All The Boxes Evenly

Stardew Valley: Best Fall Crops
  • Growth Cycle: 7 Days
  • Sales Price: 165g (Up to 821g When Dries)
  • Best Feature: Easy to Mass-Produce

Cranberries are among the top five most profitable crops. The profit margin for this berry is as high as 1,500g per year, while most other fall crops yield under 500g. What makes this crop a perfect fall harvest, however, is its ease of acquisition. You can buy a pack of Cranberry Seed for 240g from the General Store and use the Seed Maker to reproduce the seed on your farm.

A profitable autumn crop that keeps yielding is grapes. After the first ten days, grapes start to regrow every three days, giving you the opportunity to significantly increase your earnings. But the most effective way to capitalize on grapes in your farm is by transforming them into artisan products. You can convert grapes into raisins using a Dehydrator and sell each pack for up to 840g, or you could make grape jam, selling each jar for up to 294g.

Second-Best Fall Crop: Pumpkins

Excellent Profitable Giant Option

  • Growth Cycle: 13 Days
  • Sales Price: Up to 704g
  • Best Feature: Can be giant

In the autumn season, I find that growing pumpkins is almost as rewarding as the best crop, but they do require a bit more patience. Each pumpkin fetches a decent sum – around 320 gold at ordinary quality and a whopping 640 gold when of iridium quality (that’s 704g if you’re a skilled Tiller). However, they take a full 13 days to ripen without Speed-Gro, which means we can only expect to sell two rounds of pumpkins during the fall season.

Nevertheless, pumpkins hold worth beyond just being eaten. Although they can’t be consumed, pumpkins find their place in several dishes and packages at the Community Center. Moreover, pumpkins are adored by Abigail, Krobus, and Willy.

In Stardew Valley, pumpkins also have the potential to grow into substantial harvests. When you arrange them in a 3×3 grid for planting, there’s a slim possibility each day that one might grow into a giant crop. Harvesting giant crops requires using an axe, and it yields between 15 and 21 units of the crop.

Best Rare Fall Crop: Broccoli

A Seed Found Only In The World As Loot

Stardew Valley: Best Fall Crops
  • Growth Cycle: 8 Days
  • Sales Price: 40g
  • Best Feature: Multiple Harvests

In Stardew Valley, I’ve found that mass-producing broccoli isn’t the most lucrative venture. Acquiring those elusive seeds is a task in itself, but it seems the townsfolk aren’t too keen on purchasing them, keeping prices low. Yet, there are two reasons why growing broccoli remains enjoyable: firstly, it introduces a fresh, visually appealing element to my farmscape during autumn. Secondly, I can still make some good coin by pickling those broccoli and selling them.

If you’re curious, retailers don’t sell Broccoli seeds. Instead, you can acquire them by finishing Raccoon Bundles or through trading with the Raccoon’s Wife. You’ll encounter the Raccoon following the “The Giant Stump” quest, which was introduced in the 1.6 update.

Most Valuable Fall Crop: Sweet Gem Berry

The Crop That Brings In The Most Money

  • Growth Cycle: 24 Days
  • Sales Price: Up to 6,000g
  • Best Feature: High sales price

In the enchanting world of Stardew Valley, the most lucrative crop to cultivate is the Gem Berry Bush, which flourishes during autumn. These special seeds can be obtained from the Traveling Cart for a price between 600 to 1,000 gold pieces. Once a farmer reaches level 9, they gain access to a Seed Maker. This ingenious tool produces a precious seed when fed a sweet gem berry. However, only one seed is produced at a time and these berries require a full 24 days to mature. Despite this slow growth rate, each Gem Berry Bush sells for a minimum of 3,000 gold and can go up to 6,000 gold, depending on its quality.

Despite being a valuable object, handing it over to any Non-Player Character (NPC) will be seen as an ordinary present. Additionally, this item carries a hidden secret. Be warned, players seeking to uncover secrets within the game naturally should steer clear of these spoilers! When players successfully unlock the secret woods, they can offer Old Master Cannoli a precious gem berry and receive a starfruit in exchange.

Fall Crop To Avoid: Sunflowers

A Flower Not Worth A Player’s Time

Stardew Valley: Best Fall Crops
  • Growth Cycle: 8 Days
  • Sales Price: Up to 176g
  • Best Feature: Can be used to produce oil

Among all the farm crops available, the ones that yield the smallest profit and have minimal value are the less profitable and least valuable ones. If players are focusing on building the Community Center, remember that cultivating at least one sunflower is crucial to finish the Dye Bundle on the Bulletin Board.

Apart from the fact that they take eight days to grow, here’s an important detail: It costs 200 grams to buy these seeds, but you can sell them for just 80 grams. Unfortunately, due to their growth time and the potential loss of money, it may not be a wise decision for players to use their farmland space for these seeds.

How to Pick the Best Crop for Fall

Main Aspects To Consider For Farmers

Stardew Valley: Best Fall Crops

When choosing the ideal fall crop, keep in mind the essential factors of farming: selection of seeds, care, growth duration, and potential profit. Opt for crops that are easy to obtain, require minimal effort, grow swiftly, and are popular among consumers. For those who have a good deal of farming experience, strawberries might be your best bet. On the other hand, if you’re new to farming, it’s advisable to select manageable crops such as cranberries.
