In Stardew Valley, players have the freedom to infuse their unique style into every aspect. With a vast array of character customization and home decoration choices, creativity is the only limit. Whether you’re busy tending to your crops or braving the dangers in the Mines, there’s nothing quite as rewarding as returning to the warmth of your farmhouse at day’s end.
To start off, characters in Stardew Valley begin living in a humble, single-room dwelling. As gameplay advances, players gain the freedom to expand this cabin into a spacious home boasting numerous rooms. The farmhouse can be tailored and personalized by the player, allowing for a variety of styles such as a rustic, country charm or a contemporary, minimalist design. There’s no limit to the creativity players can express in designing their dream home!
Basic Farmhouse Designs
No Furniture or Wallpaper Catalogue

In the game of Stardew Valley, the Farmhouse serves as your own private home. For beginners, this initial abode is quite small with only one bed, a fireplace, an outdated television, a rug, and assorted decorations that vary based on the farm style you’ve selected.
Here’s an example: If you select the Standard Farm design, it begins with basic wooden furniture, characterized by simple rustic walls and floors. Conversely, those who pick the Forest Farm will enjoy vibrant green wallpaper adorned with many indoor plants and leafy garlands. The image displayed represents the decor that players receive if they opt for the Beach Farm layout.
Obtaining New Furniture
Furniture Catalogue

Obtain “The” from Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop for 200,000 gold coins. You can acquire this item once your farmhouse has been upgraded for the first time. This will grant you free, unlimited access to all furniture items. Don’t fret about not being able to get it immediately; the Furniture Catalogue is always stocked, so it will be there whenever you have the necessary 200,000 gold coins.
Stepping into this virtual world as a movie critic, let me share my experience: When you flip through the pages of this imaginative Furniture Catalogue, picking any item that strikes your fancy will magically appear in your own personal inventory (provided you have the space). This catalog is brimming with an array of home essentials, from cozy fireplaces to inviting beds, radiant lights, plush rugs, and much more. Fancy starting your very own aquarium? You’ll find fish tanks here too!
The Furniture Catalogue itself can also be used as a display table.
Other Ways to Buy & Use Furniture
Alternatively, you can obtain furniture not just by getting the Furniture Catalogue, but also directly from Robin at her Carpenter’s Shop or from a merchant known as the Traveling Cart who sets up near the Secret Woods in Cindersap Forest. Keep in mind that this latter merchant only shows up on Fridays and Sundays, and she wraps up business at 8pm sharp.
Instead of the Carpenter’s Shop, where prices stay consistent, the prices for furniture at the Traveling Cart fluctuate, usually falling between 250-2500g. Both shops refresh their inventory of unique furniture pieces daily. In addition to buying, you can also acquire exclusive items by contributing items to the Museum.
When rearranging items in your home, remember that while most pieces of furniture can be moved around, some cannot be rotated. This is something to bear in mind as you plan your interior design.
It’s generally fine to put most pieces of furniture outside your farmhouse, however, if a villager steps on the same tile where these items are located, they will get damaged or destroyed.
New Furniture in Stardew Valley 1.6
How to Get All Furniture Catalogues
In Stardew Valley update 1.6, five fresh catalogs have been introduced, each featuring unique furniture, wallpapers, and flooring with specific themes. For instance, the Wizard Catalogue includes items that the Wizard uses in his tower. Most of these catalogs can be obtained from the Traveling Cart, although there are exceptions to this rule. Remember that these catalogs rotate (Traveling Cart), so you might find a Junimo Catalogue on Friday, but it could disappear by Sunday.
Here’s how you can get every furniture catalogue (1.6) in Stardew Valley:

Exclusive Furniture, Wallpaper, and Flooring

In Spring Year 2, once you fix the bus and open the Desert Festival, you’ll find a unique opportunity to purchase special furniture and wallpapers not found in any regular catalogues. The following vendors will sell exclusive wallpaper for 20 Calico Eggs:
- Jodi
- Jas

Cursed Mannequin Wallpaper & Flooring

If you acquire a ‘Cursed Dummy’ and place it in a room, there’s a chance it will alter the wallpaper and flooring during the night. These ‘Cursed Dummies’ are uncommon loot from ‘Haunted Skull’ foes found within the Mines. It’s important to note that you can’t acquire this unique wallpaper/flooring through any other means. So, it would be wise to put a ‘Cursed Dummy’ in a room where you don’t mind the wallpaper or flooring being changed unexpectedly.
Other Wallpaper and Flooring

- There’s exclusive wallpaper that you can get from the Casino in the Calico Desert. One is sold for 10000 Qi Coins while the other goes for 100000 Qi Coins.
- Exclusive, Christmas-themed wallpaper can be bought from the Traveling Cart at the Festival of Ice for 500g. If you miss it, then you’ll have a chance to buy it again from Pierre at the Feast of the Winter Star.
- A unique blue wallpaper with yellow question marks can sometimes be obtained from breaking open Mystery Boxes.
How to Change Your Wallpaper and Flooring
How to Get the Wallpaper Catalogue

At Pierre’s General Store, you can buy “The Wallpaper Catalogue” for 30,000g. Inside this catalogue, you’ll find numerous designs for both wallpapers and flooring options. Similar to the Furniture Catalogue, any wallpaper or flooring you choose from “The Wallpaper Catalogue” is free and without limit.
At Pierre’s General Store and JojaMart, you can find fresh selections of wallpaper and flooring daily. However, keep in mind that these items are disposable; they vanish from your inventory once used. A smarter choice might be to set aside funds for The Catalogue, as it offers a more cost-effective solution in the long run.
Flooring
Floor tiles cannot be stored in piles and are intended for single use. Once positioned, they will span the entire space they’re set within. Additionally, they can be installed on corridors, connecting different rooms.
Wallpaper
In the style of Stardew Valley’s floorings, wallpapers serve a one-time purpose and cannot be piled up. After placement, they fully cover the walls within a single room. Interestingly, wallpapers can also be used to decorate hallway floors that connect different rooms. As of version 1.6, there are more than 112 unique wallpaper designs available for selection.
