As a long-time fan of farming sims with a penchant for RPG elements and combat, I am absolutely thrilled to hear that Phoenix Labs is bringing Fae Farm to PlayStation and Xbox! Having spent countless hours on Stardew Valley, I’m eager to sink my teeth into this fresh take on the genre.
The game titled “Fae Farm” will be available on PlayStation and Xbox starting from October 22nd, according to Phoenix Labs. This announcement regarding the game’s arrival on new platforms was made just weeks after the game celebrated its first anniversary, by the Canadian studio.
The game titled ‘Fae Farm’ shares a resemblance with ‘Stardew Valley’, as it is an independent farming sim that also incorporates combat, romance, and role-playing elements. Initially launched on both the Nintendo Switch and personal computers in early September 2023.
Fae Farm PlayStation and Xbox Ports Announced
Phoenix Labs has announced that its newest game, “Fae Farm,” will be released on additional platforms, including the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The PlayStation and Xbox versions of the game are set to debut on October 22. On this same date, the game will also become available for purchase through the Microsoft Store. To date, PC gamers have only been able to acquire the indie farming sim via Steam or the Epic Games Store. While the Xbox Store page is not yet live, PlayStation users can already pre-order “Fae Farm” from the PS Store at a price of $29.99.
Fae Farm to Offer Full Cross-Play Across All Platforms
Beyond being available on Nintendo’s eShop, the Switch edition of “Fae Farm” also had a physical release back in September 2023. Whether the future Xbox and PlayStation editions will do the same remains uncertain. However, it is known that they will incorporate all the free updates “Fae Farm” has received so far. Similarly, Phoenix Labs confirmed that their farming sim will support cross-platform play across all systems. This should make it easier to create multiplayer teams for co-op gameplay in “Fae Farm”, which can accommodate up to four players.
The two major expansions for “Fae Farm,” titled “Coasts of Croakia” and “Skies of Azoria,” will continue to be sold individually on PlayStation and Xbox platforms. As per the game’s PlayStation Store listing, these downloadable content (DLC) packs are part of the Deluxe Edition, priced at $44.99, which also includes the base game. Developer Phoenix Labs has so far only promised two post-launch expansions, leaving uncertainty about whether additional large-scale content updates may be planned for this farming simulation title.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited about the upcoming ports of Fae Farm, which looks set to broaden the libraries of captivating farming sims on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Currently, Fae Farm has garnered mostly positive reviews on Steam and a robust OpenCritic rating, with the latter based on an average score of 75 and a recommendation rate of 60% from reviewers. Previously, a free trial version of Fae Farm was made available on both Switch and PC platforms; however, it’s yet to be confirmed whether this demo will also be accessible on PlayStation and Xbox.
