A recently released mod for Stardew Valley significantly increases the game’s difficulty, making players pay for every upgrade and improvement. Stardew Valley, the popular farming simulation game, already offers a rich and detailed world with plenty to do, including a charming village, various gameplay features, and many characters to meet. The game’s creator, ConcernedApe, has consistently updated Stardew Valley for almost a decade since its 2016 release, but some players are now taking things even further by creating challenging mods.
Man, ever since Stardew Valley blew up in popularity, the modding community has been incredible! People are making everything – crossovers with games like Baldur’s Gate 3, totally new ways to play, even RPG-style leveling. I’ve seen one mod that’s trying to add full voice acting for all the characters you can romance, which is a huge undertaking. But now there’s a new one that’s really interesting – it’s adding a whole new level of difficulty to the game, making the farming sim way more challenging!
Stardew Valley Mod Makes Players Purchase Every Tile
A Reddit user named Big_Z_69 has created a new mod for Stardew Valley that significantly changes how players progress. Called “Tile-Locked Valley,” the mod forces players to buy every accessible area of the game map with in-game currency. The more land a player buys, the more expensive it becomes – starting at just 10 gold per tile for the first ten areas, but eventually costing up to 10,000 gold per tile. The creator notes the mod isn’t ready for others to download yet, as it still needs some final adjustments.
I saw a lot of funny reactions on Reddit to this crazy new Stardew Valley mod! Basically, people were joking about how it makes you buy all the farmable land, comparing it to stuff EA does or even the Joja Corporation from the game itself. Someone pointed out it’s a lot like a challenge a YouTuber named Settled did in Old-School RuneScape – which, apparently, the mod creator was inspired by! They also said they’re planning to release the mod before they finish their YouTube series, which is pretty cool.

The world of Stardew Valley has been greatly expanded by its active modding community. One popular mod, Sunberry Village, introduces a brand new area to explore beyond the familiar Pelican Town, complete with new residents, events, and crops. Another interesting mod brings elements from Baldur’s Gate 3 into the game, adding new characters and even a romance option with the popular character Astarion.
Image via ConcernedApe Even though Stardew Valley has a thriving modding community, its creator, ConcernedApe, isn’t done with the game yet. He’s confirmed a Version 1.7 update is coming, even after saying he’d be concentrating on his new game, Haunted Chocolatier. ConcernedApe has made it clear he plans to continue updating Stardew Valley for a long time – he even joked about potentially adding content for the next 50 years! His dedication to Stardew Valley is inspiring fans, who continue to create impressive mods that expand the game’s possibilities.
