Stardew Valley Player Makes Helpful Discovery A Year After Buying the Game

Highlights

  • Stardew Valley players can unlock a fishing guide channel by completing a favor for Pam involving Potato Juice delivery.
  • The Fishing Information Broadcast Service provides detailed info on fish availability, locations, times, and weather conditions.
  • This feature was added in the 1.5 update, not the recent 1.6 update, encouraging players to explore all Special Orders.

As an experienced gamer who has sunk countless hours into Stardew Valley, I can’t help but shake my head in amusement at the fact that some of us have been oblivious to the existence of the Fishing Information Broadcast Service (F.I.B.S.) for so long! It’s like discovering a secret underground lake in a game you thought you knew inside out.

A player of the game ‘Stardew Valley’ has recently unearthed a useful trick for anglers within the game, however it took them a full year to realize this aspect was present. Surprisingly, there’s no cause for embarrassment here as numerous members of the ‘Stardew Valley’ community have similarly acknowledged their lack of knowledge regarding this specific feature in the game.

Whenever the game Stardew Valley receives a significant update, it introduces new functionalities. Yet, some of these features may be overlooked for quite some time due to its open-ended gameplay style that allows players to explore at their own pace. In this instance, it appears that a seemingly innocuous delivery to an NPC in Pelican Town can actually enhance the life of a fisherman.

Reddit user millennium-sky found out that helping a certain character grants access to a unique fishing network. In the town’s Special Orders section near the Mayor’s residence, Pam asks the player to provide her with 12 Potato Juices from their farm. Upon delivery, Pam will send a letter asking if they’ve ever tuned into channel 736 on their television. From then on, accessing the TV lets the player tune into F.I.B.S., or the Fishing Information Broadcast Service.

What Does the Stardew Valley Fishing Channel Do?

The Fishing Information Broadcast Service is a channel that informs the player as to what fish are available during the season. It details where each fish can be found, and even narrows down the time of day and the weather conditions that are needed for them to spawn. For players trying to complete other NPCs’ fish quests or who need to complete the Junimo requests at the community center, this can be a huge help. Some fish are very limited and only regularly appear for an hour or two, and many players resort to looking up online resources on where to find fish in Stardew Valley. With access to the channel, players can easily determine what’s available and how to get it.

As a dedicated Stardew Valley enthusiast, I myself was taken aback when I discovered that not everyone knew about the Millennium-sky feature. It turns out, several players were surprised to learn of it since they hadn’t encountered it before, with some assuming it was a new addition in the 1.6 update. However, it was actually introduced in the 1.5 update! For those who haven’t explored all the Special Orders from the community yet, it might be worth giving them a try. Each NPC offers unique rewards upon completion of their requests.

Though the creator of “Stardew Valley” hasn’t promised significant content updates beyond version 1.6, he hasn’t ruled out the possibility either, which means players might still find new things within the game in the future.
