Stardew Valley Switch 2 Edition Drops with Free Upgrade

Stardew Valley for the Nintendo Switch 2 is out now! It was released unexpectedly today, December 25th, and costs $14.99. If you already own the game, you can get a free upgrade.

The game has been updated with several new features to take full advantage of Nintendo’s newest console, such as easy-to-use mouse controls and the ability to play online with up to eight people.

Stardew Valley on Switch, But 2

ConcernedApe surprised fans with an early Christmas present by releasing the Switch 2 version of Stardew Valley! You can download it immediately from the Nintendo eShop. If you already have Stardew Valley on Switch, the update is available as a free download.

I’m so excited about the new update! Now you can finally play with a mouse, which is awesome. But the best part? You can play with friends! It has four-player split-screen, and even supports eight players online. And get this – if only one of us owns the game, we can all play together using GameShare! Seriously, game night just got a whole lot bigger.

We’ve known for months that Stardew Valley was getting an update, but a specific release date wasn’t announced. Originally, the update was expected sometime in Fall 2025, but that timeframe has passed. Here’s the trailer that announced the update a few months ago:

Stardew Valley recently achieved a remarkable feat on Steam, breaking a 14-year-old record previously held by Portal 2. It’s now the top-rated game on the platform, chosen by players from among thousands of options. This clearly shows just how much people love Stardew Valley.
