As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for immersive soundtracks that complement my adventures through digital galaxies, I must say the announcement of the Starfield deluxe vinyl has me thoroughly excited! The prospect of owning this magnificent 6LP original soundtrack, meticulously crafted by Inon Zur and the esteemed Budapest Film Orchestra, is almost too good to be true.
Collaboratively, Bethesda Game Studios and Laced Records are offering a limited edition vinyl set for the game ‘Starfield’. Pre-orders are available as we speak!
The two-disc vinyl soundtrack includes twenty essential tracks, and there’s a special edition with blue and white discs exclusively sold by Laced Records. Meanwhile, you can find the black disc version in stores from other retailers as well.
This limited 6-disc box set, only available through Laced, boasts 66 tracks meticulously mastered and presented on silver and white galaxy-effect, high-quality discs (the Standard Edition comes with traditional black discs). The packaging for this set is designed by the Bethesda Game Studios team, featuring a sturdy slipcase with printed inner sleeves. Inside, you’ll find an 12″ art print and a Constellation logo sticker. To top it off, Aeralie Brighton (known for her work on DEATHLOOP and Ori series) contributes her vocals to the soundtrack.
Throughout all Bethesda Game Studios titles, music is an integral part of the player’s journey and a constant companion on one’s adventure. Composer Inon Zur’s long-running collaboration with the studio began all the way back in 2008 with the launch of Fallout 3. With the Starfield score, they sought to evoke both the vastness of space and humanity’s curiosity-driven efforts to chart the unknown. This led to Zur weaving together traditional and non-traditional orchestral and electronic palettes into an aural tapestry of the organic and the synthetic.
As a gamer, I’ve been part of a team that drew inspiration from an array of diverse sources during development. We kicked things off with iconic sci-fi composers like John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith. Then, our journey took us through a classical landscape dotted with Debussy, Ravel, and Prokofiev. We made a quick stop to admire the towering synth work of Vangelis before briefly exploring the experimental realms of Einstürzende Neubauten and John Cage.
Starfield’s orchestral signals, performed by the Budapest Film Orchestra, frequently depict various musical sections painting vivid space-related images. Rapid, repetitive woodwind sequences symbolize particles, while strings playing oscillating chords mirror long waves of interstellar energy. The brass section serves as a melodic beacon, echoing throughout the galaxy. On the other hand, the more electronically influenced cues preserve grandeur with heavy synth pads backing mysterious repeated patterns and unique rhythmic percussive elements.
As a fellow gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that you can now secure your copy of the pre-order for the 6LP Starfield Original Soundtrack! The highly anticipated game is already available on the Xbox Series S|X and PC. Can’t wait to join the action!
