A retail website has posted a potential listing for Starfield on the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, fueling speculation about the space-themed action RPG possibly moving to Nintendo’s upcoming hybrid console. However, Nintendo has not officially confirmed if Starfield is intended for a Switch 2 release. Yet, there seems to be strong fan interest in the possibility of a port.
In September 2023, Bethesda unveiled their new open-world RPG title, Starfield, aiming to create an experience that could compete with its renowned franchises, Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. The game offered players the opportunity to traverse over 1,000 planets and moons within a whole galaxy. Initially available on Xbox Series X|S and PC upon release, it fell short of its anticipated success. Although critics applauded the game extensively, gamers were less enthusiastic, resulting in a more reserved response. Currently, Starfield receives Mixed reviews on Steam with a 57% approval rating, while OpenCritic’s Player Score is slightly more positive at 70.
Online Store Lists Starfield for Nintendo Switch 2
Although Starfield didn’t meet anticipation, a significant number of gamers have been anxiously awaiting its arrival on other platforms. Lately, reliable leaker NateTheHate posted on Twitter mid-August suggesting that Starfield will be available on the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 by 2026. However, neither Nintendo nor Bethesda has publicly confirmed this release schedule. Interestingly, online retailer Instant Gaming recently added Starfield to their games for the Switch 2, with a tentative 2026 release year mentioned but no pre-order option available yet.

Speculations about the potential availability of “Starfield” on the Nintendo Switch 2 have arisen, joining a chorus of rumors surrounding its possible debut on the PlayStation 5. Throughout much of this year, there has been talk about “Starfield” potentially making its entrance on the PlayStation 5, and recent events have made a collaboration between Microsoft and Sony appear somewhat plausible. A report from MP1st in early August, based on an anonymous source, indicated that a port for the PlayStation 5 version of “Starfield” is slated for release in Spring 2026.

Although neither the PS5 launch nor a second expansion for Starfield have been officially confirmed yet, there are rumors suggesting they might be released together. So far, only one expansion DLC, Shattered Space, has been released for Starfield in late September 2024, which delved deeper into the House Va’ruun faction’s history. However, both the base game and its first expansion have received criticism from players due to repetitive gameplay and weak storytelling. Despite this, lead designer Emil Pagliarulo has publicly defended both Starfield and Shattered Space, demonstrating Bethesda’s dedication to expanding and improving the game.
