Previously, Bethesda has mentioned that Starfield will receive annual expansions, but there’s been no update yet about what its second downloadable content (DLC) might be. Last year saw the release of the first expansion for Starfield, titled Shattered Space. Although it added some depth to the game’s story, it didn’t fully satisfy fans’ expectations. Now, everyone is on tenterhooks waiting for Bethesda to reveal details about the upcoming DLC, as players eagerly anticipate the announcement.
Starfield boasts a great deal of promise, yet since its release, one common complaint is that it lacks the distinctive Bethesda charm. Even as a new game, it seems that previous Bethesda titles offered more intricate worlds with a wider array of interactive elements. To captivate longtime Bethesda enthusiasts with Starfield‘s upcoming DLC, taking inspiration from the popular expansion for Skyrim, Dawnguard, could be the recipe for success.

Starfield Should Finally Embrace the Supernatural
Bethesda’s commitment to ground Starfield in real-life science fiction is admirable, but it may not lead to a more engaging universe. Although Starfield has evolved since its debut, the absence of alien species resembling humans and other extraordinary creatures could be preventing the game from fully realizing its potential.
In me, as a fervent admirer, I can confidently say that Starfield is brimming with extraterrestrial beings, but it stands out among sci-fi RPGs for its grounded approach. So far, the game hasn’t unveiled any sentient alien life forms.
Players Should Have More Than the Starborn
In the rich tapestry of Starfield’s backstory, the Starborn are among the most significant elements. As players progress through the game and accomplish the main quest, they transform into a Starborn. This transformation is fascinating, but it’s crucial that Starfield offers more than just the Starborn to keep things interesting when it comes to character evolution.
In the expansion pack “Dawnguard” within the game “Skyrim”, players have the option to either join the Dawnguard, an organization dedicated to hunting vampires, or choose to align with the vampires and eventually transform into one yourself. This adds a fun twist to the storyline of Skyrim, and it’s possible that “Starfield” could benefit from similar playful elements. For instance, Starfield might feature unique alien life forms with sentience or even a space-faring race of vampires. To truly capture the spirit of Bethesda’s past works, Starfield may need to emphasize its whimsical aspects more strongly.
Despite Starfield showing great promise, a common criticism since its release is that it lacks the distinctive Bethesda flair.
The long-awaited DLC for Starfield‘s Shattered Space, titled House Va’ruun, has been unveiled, offering intriguing backstory. However, one of the main complaints about this expansion is its brief duration. This expansion also presents two new characters to join your crew, yet for those hoping to diversify their romantic interests in the game, these fresh faces are unfortunately not romanceable.
Starfield Has Yet to Reveal its Future Plans
Currently, Bethesda hasn’t shared much about the upcoming DLC for Starfield. Given the mixed response to Shattered Space, it seems plausible that Bethesda could be reconsidering its strategy for the next expansion. However, we’ll have to wait and see. Starfield needs its next expansion to pack a punch. The fun-loving aspect that Skyrim’s vampire transformation offers is something that Starfield could benefit from as well.
As a die-hard fan eagerly anticipating the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8th, I’m hopeful that Bethesda will finally unveil their plans for the highly anticipated space epic, Starfield. While it hasn’t quite scaled the heights of Skyrim or other iconic Bethesda games yet, there’s still a chance for it to do so if they make the right moves.
The future expansion for Starfield is shrouded in mystery at present, but when Bethesda shares an update on their progress, I can only hope that it brings a fresh and engaging concept for fans like me to delve into.
