Starfield’s Star Wars Genesis Mod is Available to Play Now, and It’s Technically Free

If you’re a Star Wars fan looking for a new adventure, you can get the “Star Wars Genesis” mod for Starfield for free – as long as you already own the game and its “Shattered Space” expansion. This mod completely transforms Starfield into a Star Wars experience, and the amount of work put into it is incredible. It’s a great way to enjoy a new Star Wars story while we wait for official games to be released.

It was always expected that players would heavily modify Starfield, given its nature as a Bethesda game. Many were willing to forgive the game’s initial flaws, confident that skilled modders would quickly improve it. Bethesda’s space RPG offered a fantastic base for modding, and while it hasn’t yet reached the same early popularity as Skyrim’s modding scene, there’s plenty of time for that to happen. Players are already creating impressive mods, like one that adds 300 new missions. Hopefully, this creative trend will continue for a long time.

Starfield’s Star Wars Overhaul is Here, and It Looks Incredible

Star Wars Genesis is a massive mod for Starfield that completely changes the game into a Star Wars experience. It uses hundreds of modifications to overhaul everything – characters, interface, items, planets, ships, enemies, and music – so it barely resembles the original Starfield. The main story has been rewritten to focus on a Yuuzhan Vong invasion. The creators emphasize that they’re building a deep, story-driven RPG, not just changing the graphics. Players can experience a huge range of activities, like exploring Tatooine or discovering a Clone Wars battlefield and collecting armor.

Installing Star Wars Genesis is easy thanks to the Wabbajack tool. It’s a free mod, which is important considering it’s based on Star Wars! However, you’ll need to own the Starfield base game and the Shattered Space expansion to play it. Be warned, it’s a large download – around 250 GB, and up to 315 GB if you want the high-definition textures. Also, this mod is only available on PC; the creator says the Xbox Series X/S’s mod limitations prevent it from being released on that platform.

It looks like the Star Wars Genesis mod is safe for now. The creator notes that other Star Wars fan projects have lasted for years by respecting copyright rules, and they’ve taken similar precautions. They’ve even gotten official permission from LucasFilm to use music from several Star Wars games – including KOTOR I/II, SWTOR, and Force Unleashed – within the mod. While takedown notices are always a worry for large mods like this one, it doesn’t seem to be a major concern in this case.

And if you’ve been let down by recent Star Wars games, this mod could be a perfect fit. A big update is coming later this month, adding lightsabers to Star Wars Genesis – you won’t want to miss it!
