StarRupture is a challenging survival and building game where getting your base up and running can be tricky. You’ll also explore a massive world called Arcadia-7, but be warned: a recurring planetary event threatens to destroy all life on the surface!
To make things even more challenging, the local wildlife isn’t pleased with humans collecting resources near their homes and will often attack player bases to defend their territory. If you’re new to StarRupture and unsure where to begin, here’s a complete beginner’s guide. It covers everything you need to know about characters, technologies, base building, and the different corporations (factions) in the game.
Choose Your Character Based On What You Like To Do
In StarRupture, each character has a unique skill, like crafting or staying alive. If you want to unlock new tech, the Scientist is the way to go. Prefer combat? Choose the Soldier. As you’d expect, the Medic focuses on healing, and the Engineer is the group’s builder.
While all characters are versatile and can handle any task, they’ll perform best when focusing on their strengths. Choosing a specialization is important, as it will make certain tasks easier. However, you can still accomplish everything yourself, from crafting to building, no matter what you choose. Keep in mind that StarRupture is designed as a cooperative open-world game, so playing with friends is highly recommended.
Pay Attention To The Rupture Cycles
In Star Rupture, the central gameplay element is called The Rupture. This event happens periodically on Arcadia-7 (shown by a meter on your screen) and essentially resets the planet. It destroys all resources, then quickly starts a new cycle of growth. Resource locations change constantly, so players need to collect as many materials as possible before the Rupture begins.
Ruptures are instantly fatal to players who aren’t inside a safe shelter, like a base or refuge, so it’s crucial to avoid being out in the open when one is about to happen. You’ll get a warning before a Rupture begins, giving you time to rush back to safety. This game offers a compelling open-world survival experience, but players need to take the threat of Ruptures seriously.
Unlock Utility Tech First, Combat Later
In StarRupture, one of the first things you’ll want to unlock is the Map (reach Level 2 using Moon Energy). Exploring the planet Arcadia-7 is very difficult without a map, making it hard to find valuable resources and remember their locations after the ruptures occur. While StarRupture involves gathering resources and building, you’ll also need to defend your base and fight while you explore.
Our main focus should be developing helpful tools and technologies for building bases, setting up defenses, and staying alive. Players will start with a basic pistol and affordable ammo, but don’t worry – more powerful weapons will become available as they progress.
Base Location Is Everything
Most players begin by building a base near their landing pod, which is a good choice because it provides easy access to essential early-game resources. However, as the game goes on, players will need to find other resources that aren’t available in that initial area.
Okay, so as a new player, I found the perfect spot to build my base in StarRupture! From where you start, head east – you’ll go past a crater and some sulphur stuff. Just keep going east until you find this little lake. Seriously, don’t stop! The best place to set up is right on the north side of the lake. It’s got tons of resources, both simple and more advanced, and hardly any enemies bother you. It’s honestly the ideal place to start your adventure, in my opinion!
Climb To A Vantage Point to Build With Ease
Changing your height will significantly affect how you see the world when building in StarRupture, letting you get a better look at the land. Eventually, you’ll unlock a building Drone to help with this, but for now, the best way to plan your structures is to climb to higher ground, like a hill or rock.
This will help you see more of the area you can build on and identify any potential problems with expanding your base later. It’s best to build on flat ground, even if it means being further from resources, because you can connect all your resource collectors with rails to easily transport materials to your workshops and launch facilities.
Commissions and Corporations
In StarRupture, Corporations function similarly to Factions, and they all need resources to improve. As you provide resources through Orbital Cargo Launches – essentially completing delivery missions – you earn reputation with each corporation. This reputation increases your standing from level 1 to level 5, unlocking new technologies as you go.
StarRupture features six distinct corporations, and each one grants access to a unique set of technologies as you progress. Here’s a breakdown of each corporation, including the level you need to reach to unlock it and the technologies it offers:
