StarRupture gets an environmental showcase video

A new video from the creator of StarRupture (also known as Green Hell) has been shared, providing insights into the sources of inspiration for the game’s scenery and settings.

The makers of Creepy Jar explain that although the game is set on an distant planet, the designs for its terrains and extreme environments were drawn from recognizable sources. In their latest video, they reveal some real-life places that served as inspirations for their team.

In their quest to create a living world that adapts to the eternal cycle of life and death, the Creepy Jar team journeyed to one of Earth’s most unforgiving landscapes: Iceland. By studying this prehistoric terrain up close, they hoped to gain insights on how to bring such extreme environments to life within their game, StarRupture. This ambitious project, developed using Unreal Engine 5, combines base building, exploration, combat, and resource management on an alien planet undergoing perpetual destruction caused by its volatile star.

In the tale of StarRupture, humans battle against the harsh, awe-inspiring sci-fi landscape of an alien planet where elemental disasters pose perpetual threats. The protagonist assumes the role of a banished Earth dweller, serving their punishment by extracting resources and advancing technology on what appears to be a welcoming yet perilous new world teeming with enigma and risk. As they navigate the devastating waves of elements and confront formidable adversaries in intense battles, each cycle brings about destruction but also the dawn of a new phase for development and reconstruction. Players can experience this adventure either individually from a first-person perspective or team up with up to three other players in cooperative mode, allowing them to explore, adapt, collect resources, and construct intricate machinery to endure and thrive.

While StarRupture is classified as a base-building simulator, it offers so much more. Players are encouraged to go beyond the basics, staying strong and adaptable amidst constant challenges. They will construct and develop before harsh conditions destroy on a stunning yet dangerous planet. For enthusiasts of builders, management, sci-fi, and action, StarRupture presents a formidable test. Players must harness technology, endure extreme environments, and battle fierce enemies to not only survive but thrive and create a successful industrial complex.
