Even though StarRupture is still in early access, there’s already a lot to do – you can complete corporate missions, construct buildings, and gather resources. The game world is quite large, offering plenty of space to explore as you work on making your base and resource gathering more efficient. And the developers, Creepy Jar, have just shared their plans for the future! They’ve revealed a roadmap detailing upcoming improvements and new content during early access, as well as what to expect in the full 1.0 release. Here’s a breakdown of the StarRupture early access roadmap.
Everything on the StarRupture Early Access Roadmap
The game developers at Creepy Jar have outlined their plans for the early access phase, dividing it into four key stages.
- Ongoing Improvements
- Features
- Content
- Quality of Life
As of today, the development roadmap doesn’t include any specific dates or version numbers. This makes it hard to know which features will be released first or how long players will have to wait. Nevertheless, here’s a breakdown of what’s planned for each area.
Ongoing Improvements
Although StarRupture is running smoothly now and most of its features are functioning as intended, the developers at Creepy Jar are continuing to refine the game as they prepare for its official 1.0 launch.
- Game Performance
- Building Mechanics
- Combat Mechanics
- World
- UI/UX
We have a good idea of how some aspects of the game could be improved – things like small adjustments to controls, menus, and gameplay balance. However, it’s less clear what long-term improvements might be made to the game world itself. This could involve adding more hidden areas like caves or secrets to discover, or simply enhancing the visual quality of the environment on Arcadia-7.
Features
Creepy Jar plans to add several features while the game is in early access. This includes popular requests from players, such as controller support, customizable game modes with adjustable difficulty levels, and improvements to building and combat.
- Wildlife
- Custom Game Mode Options (with adjustable difficulty)
- A New Way to Travel on the Map Between Bases
- Codex (Encyclopedia)
- Controller Support
- New Building Features
- New Combat Mechanics
- New Exploration Mechanics
I’m really hoping StarRupture will work on the Steam Deck! The developers haven’t said much about it yet, and it’s not currently on their roadmap. But, their last game, Green Hell, is Steam Deck verified, so I’m optimistic they’ll add Steam Deck support sometime, maybe as part of improved controller options. Fingers crossed!
Content
The upcoming content, as outlined in the early access roadmap, is essentially expanding on what’s already in the game. This means players who finish the initial version will have a good reason to come back and check out future updates.
- Expanded Map
- Additional Corporation Levels & Rewards
- New Weapons
- New Resources
- New Buildings
- New Forgotten Engine
- New Locations and Points of Interest
- Additional Story Elements
Quality of Life
We’re also planning several improvements to make the game more enjoyable and user-friendly for everyone, as detailed in our early access roadmap.
- Cargo Dispatcher/ Receiver Rework
- Co-Op Game Balance
- Accessibility Options (improved keybinding)
- Accessibility Options (subtitle options, adjustable text size)
- Dedicated Servers
What’s Coming in StarRupture’s 1.0 Release?
Creepy Jar has also given a sneak peek at big features planned for the full 1.0 release, as part of their plans for early access players.
- Frost Wave
- New Biome
- End Game
- More Story Elements
- Achievements
The ‘Frost Wave’ is a particularly intriguing discovery, hinting that players might encounter a cold snap in addition to the usual heat waves caused by the game’s disruptions. We’ll need to wait and see how this new element develops.
