Most players of Starsand Island don’t discover the bees until they need Honeycomb for a recipe or quest. However, once they do, they’ll probably want to start collecting Honeycomb!
Okay, so in Starsand Island, honeycombs aren’t just something you eat! They’re actually super important if you want to get into beekeeping. I’ve put together a quick guide to help you understand why they’re so valuable and, more importantly, where the best spots are to farm them. Hopefully, this will help more of us start making our own honey on our ranches!

Best Places to Get Honeycomb
- West of the Cloudrest Lake
- Windflute Island
You can find honeycombs by collecting them from beehives. Good places to look are the forest west of Cloudrest Lake in the northern part of the map and Windflute Island in the south. These hives are usually found on White Fig and Banyan trees. To get the honeycombs, simply chop down these trees with an axe or machete.
Beehives are available in two sizes: small and large. Smaller hives typically include a few bumblebees along with their honeycombs, and these bees are important for honey production. Larger hives have a chance to produce a Queen Bee, which allows the bee population to grow.

How to Produce Honey
Image via Seed Sparkle Lab To get honey on your farm, you’ll need to build a Beehive. You can unlock the recipe for the Beehive by reaching level Intermediate Rancher at Green Pasture Ranch.
After unlocking the Beehive blueprint, players can build it using the following materials:
- Hardwood Plank (6)
- Honeycomb (6)
- Iron Sheet (3)
A beehive is home to both bumblebees and queen bees. Bumblebees actively gather honey between 7 AM and 7 PM. Queen bees focus solely on laying eggs. Every day, a queen bee eats some royal jelly and uses it to create a new bumblebee.

Queen Bee Overview
| Purpose | Produces Bumblebees |
|---|---|
| Source | Giant Beehive |
| Price | 400 Coins |
| Description | The queen of the bee colony. Place her in a hive and feed her Royal Jelly, and she will periodically produce Bumblebee workers. |
The Queen Bee needs seven spaces within the beehive to live and function, and she needs at least one extra empty space to lay eggs and create more bees.
How to Get Royal Jelly
Royal Jelly is the main food source for Queen Bees. In the game, you create it by combining one Egg and five Honeycombs in a Feeder machine. Then, place the Royal Jelly in the Beehive to allow the Queen Bee to reproduce.
Royal Jelly is also a lucrative artisan product, as each bottle sells for 226 Starsand Island Coins.
Is Beekeeping Worth It in Starsand Island?
Image via Seed Sparkle Lab Unlike most animals on Starsand Island that need constant feeding, bumblebees can work on their own for 12 hours a day and produce honey with very little expense. This makes beekeeping a potentially profitable and easy way for islanders to earn extra money.
You can change the name of your Beehive by clicking on the title at the top of the screen, or by pressing the left bumper button (LSB) if you’re playing with an Xbox controller.
