Almost eight years have passed since the debut of “Super Mario Odyssey”, and it appears that Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, might be hinting at a follow-up to this popular game. Ever since “Super Mario Odyssey” was launched in 2017, fans have been anxiously waiting to learn where Mario’s journey will lead us next. Fortunately, it seems we may not have to wait much longer before learning the answer to that question.
The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will maintain its price for North American buyers, but the cost of additional items like Joy-Cons is set to rise due to recent tariffs. This eagerly awaited console is slated to hit stores on June 5 with an initial price of $449.99. If you’re interested in the Mario Kart World bundle, it will be available for purchase at $499.99. However, some accessories have experienced a price increase since their initial announcement. For example, a pair of Joy-Con 2 will now cost $94.99 as opposed to the previously announced price of $89.99 during the Nintendo Direct on April 2.
Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, recently chatted with CNN about what’s in store for the Nintendo Switch 2. When quizzed about the upcoming mainline Mario game, he hinted that fans should “keep an eye out” and revealed a wealth of games in development for the upcoming system. Although this isn’t an official announcement, many enthusiasts are interpreting his words as a possible indication that a new Mario game might be on the horizon sooner than anticipated.
A New Mainline Mario Title Could Be On the Way
Currently, gaming enthusiasts eager to don the role of their beloved plumber might find temporary satisfaction with the imminent release of “Mario Kart World“. This exciting new addition offers an array of novel gameplay modes, features, items, and playable characters. The long-awaited title is set to bring a fresh open-world perspective to the franchise, allowing players to delve into its environment during races as well as in leisurely exploration. Certain game modes will even challenge players to drive to their next race, offering a one-of-a-kind experience.
On April 24th, North American video game enthusiasts will finally have the chance to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2, as Nintendo has confirmed that they’ll begin accepting pre-orders from retailers such as GameStop, Target, and Best Buy. Initially, pre-orders were postponed due to tariff concerns, but now it seems everything is on track for a smooth launch. With pre-ordering around the corner and the full release just over the horizon, Nintendo Switch 2 fans are filled with excitement!
