I’m so excited! Absolum, which everyone’s been raving about as one of the best co-op games on Steam (it has “Very Positive” reviews!), is getting a new update on February 12th! It’s awesome that over 500,000 people are already playing! I’ve been having a blast with this vibrant roguelite beat-em-up on my PC (you can also find it on PlayStation 4, 5, and Nintendo Switch), and I can’t wait to see what new action-packed stuff the 1.1 update brings.
Launching on October 9, 2025, Absolum is a cooperative multiplayer game where players take on the roles of unlikely heroes in the world of Talamh. Together, they’ll fight to defeat the Sun King Azra and free the land from his control. Absolum is a side-scrolling beat-em-up with roguelite elements and a classic arcade feel. Each hero offers a distinct combat style: Galandra wields a powerful, necromantic sword, Karl switches between a blunderbuss and hand-to-hand combat, Brome is a skilled wizard, and Cider is a quick and agile fighter. These four heroes will embark on a challenging quest to uncover the mysteries of Talamh, and a new update (version 1.1) promises to make their journey even more exciting.
What New Content is Coming to Absolum on February 12?
To mark reaching 500,000 players, Absolum is launching version 1.1 on February 12th for PC and consoles. This update, called Threads of Fate, introduces a variety of new content, including tougher challenges, dangerous new areas called corrupted biomes, improved mounts, and more ways to customize your character. End-game players can test their skills with new Mystic Ordeals – both official and player-created – and even design and share their own challenges with the community. The corrupted biomes offer stronger enemies and better rewards for skilled players, while the upgraded mounts come with new abilities to help fight the Crimson Order. Players will also find new skins and emotes for their favorite heroes, giving them even more ways to personalize their Absolum experience.

Many players were hoping to team up with friends on different gaming systems, and while it’s not ready yet, the developers confirmed they’re still working on it and plan to release it in a future update. Adding Cross Play could significantly boost Absolum’s player base, as it has proven successful for other multiplayer games, and is a key goal for the development team.
Players have noticed the recent ‘Threads of Fate’ update doesn’t mention any bug fixes, which many were hoping for. While the highly anticipated Cross Play feature is a big step for Absolum, many fans are still hoping the game will eventually be released on Xbox. It’s unclear if the Xbox version will launch alongside Cross Play, and the developers might prioritize fixing bugs and making gameplay improvements first. They could also focus on these adjustments before adding Cross Play, releasing an Xbox version, or implementing other major updates for Absolum. Fans can stay updated on future changes to Absolum and other co-op games on Steam.
