Steam Just Added Dino Crisis and Its Sequel

The classic dinosaur survival horror games, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, are now available on PC through Steam. Players can experience the original Dino Crisis with updates designed for today’s computers.

Released in the late 1990s, Dino Crisis was part of a wave of popular survival horror games, including Resident Evil (also by Capcom), Silent Hill from Konami, and Parasite Eve by SquareSoft. While the series continued with three sequels and two spin-offs up until 2003, it hadn’t seen a new release since. Now, the original two Dino Crisis games are available on PC for fans to enjoy.

The Steam page for Dino Crisis details that the game will work on Windows 10 and 11 and will be available in six languages: Japanese, English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. It includes the Original, Arrange, and Operation Wipe Out game modes. This version has been updated with visual and performance enhancements like an improved DirectX renderer, options for windowed mode and anti-aliasing, support for 4K resolution, better transparency effects, and adjustable game settings. Several bugs, including save corruption, animation glitches, and music issues, have been fixed, and the game supports most controllers from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.

Like the first game, Dino Crisis 2 now works seamlessly with Windows 10 and 11. It includes both the original English and Japanese versions, plus extra features like an Easy difficulty setting, Dino Colosseum, and Dino Duel. You’ll also find enhanced graphics options, DirectX support, and controller compatibility. Improvements extend to the audio, with better music playback, and visual details like item rendering and fog effects have been refined. Even the game’s box art appears more accurately in-game.

Dino Crisis Fans Want More

Gamers who enjoyed the original games will probably be excited to play Dino Crisis on PC again, but these releases aren’t the brand-new game fans have been hoping for. Unlike Resident Evil, which has remained a hugely popular series, Dino Crisis hasn’t seen a remake or sequel in years. Capcom knows players want a new installment – even Hideki Kamiya, the original director of Resident Evil 2, has expressed interest in remaking the first Dino Crisis game.

Okay, so there’s still a chance we might see a new Dino Crisis game! Capcom renewed the trademark back in mid-2025, and even released some merch, which is a good sign they know people still care about it. Bartosz Kwietniewski from GOG (they helped bring the game to Steam) thinks a remake of the original is possible, and that the Steam release could give Capcom the push they need to make it happen. Honestly, it’s not a sure thing, and right now it seems like they’re focused on Resident Evil Requiem and a brand new game called Pragmata. But if enough of us play the Steam version, maybe, just maybe, we’ll get a new Dino Crisis! Fingers crossed.
