3 More Games Are Free to Try on Steam for a Limited Time

From November 20th to November 24th at 10 AM PST, Steam is offering free play for three different games: Wildgate, Goat Simulator 3, and Hearts of Iron 4. With such a variety of genres, there’s likely something for everyone. Goat Simulator 3, the latest installment in the popular series from Coffee Stain Studios, is probably the most recognizable of the three. Released in February 2024, it currently boasts an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating on Steam, and deservedly so.

The Goat Simulator games are hard to explain – you really just have to play them to understand! In Goat Simulator 3, you play as Pilgor, a chaotic goat who causes trouble all over the island of San Angora. He runs around headbutting, kicking, and licking everything, much to the annoyance of the locals. You can play with up to three friends online or locally, and the game is currently 60% off on Steam. This is a great time for new players to jump in, especially with the new paid DLC, Badlands: Furry Road, which lets Pilgor ride a customizable motorcycle in a wild, post-apocalyptic world.

If you’re looking for a game to play the weekend of November 20th, check out Wildgate. It’s a multiplayer shooter where you team up with others to battle both enemies and other players. The main objective is to be the first team to capture the Artifact and escape through the Wildgate. To do that, you’ll need to improve your spaceship and find useful items like supplies, powerful weapons, and hidden treasures. You can choose from a variety of characters, called Prospectors, each with unique abilities and tools.

Since Wildgate was only released in July 2025, Moonshot Games is continuing to develop and improve the game. The first big update, Wildgate: Emergence, arrived on November 19th, introducing a new playable character called the Prospector, a smaller ship designed for teams of one or two players, new areas to discover, and two fresh game modes. Hearts of Iron 4 is the third game to consider this holiday weekend, and it’s been around the longest, launching back in 2016 from Paradox Interactive. Even now, the game remains popular – it reached a peak of 93,000 concurrent players just last year, proving it still attracts a large audience.

In the strategy game Hearts of Iron 4, you command any nation during World War 2. It features incredibly detailed systems that recreate the war’s complex battles, and the developers are still planning new content releases through 2026.
