As a big fan of city builders, I’m really excited about this! You can actually try out Songs of Syx for free on Steam until December 8th. It’s been in development by Gamatron since late 2020, and people love it – it’s got over 6,000 reviews and an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive‘ rating, which is seriously impressive!
Songs of Syx is a fantasy city-building game where you grow a small settlement into a vast empire, ultimately leading massive armies in real-time combat. The game features a pixelated art style and lets you interact with diverse fantasy races, cultures, and creatures – you can even worship a variety of gods! You’ll be responsible for building roads, plazas, and bustling ports to drive commerce. It’s an independent game created by a single developer and brought to life through a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Songs of Syx Is Free to Play for a Limited Time
From now until December 8th at 10 AM PST, you can play Songs of Syx for free! This is timed to coincide with the launch of the new “Riders of Doom” update, which also includes improvements from Version 0.70. The update introduces spearman and cavalry units to the game, adding new tactical options to your armies for both attacking and defending.
Songs of Syx focuses heavily on large-scale battles, letting players command armies of up to 50,000 soldiers – including citizens, allies, and mercenaries. These armies will clash with equally large opposing forces. The recent 0.70 update improves the enemy AI, which the developers at Gamatron are continually refining. A new feature, “Riders of Doom,” allows rulers to move their camp and resettle in more favorable locations, carrying resources and progress along with them. The update also includes bug fixes and general improvements to gameplay. And for those who enjoy the game, Songs of Syx is currently 25% off.
Other Free Games to Check Out on Steam
There are a lot of pixel-art simulator games available, and Songs of Syx is one of them. These games offer diverse experiences – you can build a city in the fast-paced Gamatron, manage a cemetery in Graveyard Keeper, or design a zoo in Let’s Build a Zoo. Even Kingdom Two Crowns, a strategy game from 2018, offers a unique side-scrolling perspective without sacrificing fun. All these games provide engaging gameplay, despite their different approaches.
If you’re interested in trying out some free games, you can usually find quite a few options. Steam offers a wide variety of free-to-play titles, ranging from single-player role-playing games and massive multiplayer online games to unique experiences like the animal-led stealth game, Not My War.
You can play Warhammer 40,000: Darktide for free on Steam until December 8th at 10 AM PST. A big update released on December 2nd added a new character class called Hive Scum, along with new weapons like the Crowbar, Shivs, and Dual Auto Pistols. This free content has brought a lot of players back to the game, proving it still has a strong community three years after its launch.
