Growing up, I spent countless hours building and managing virtual cities in games like SimCity and Anno series, and the prospect of returning to that genre with a fresh twist in the SteamWorld Universe has me absolutely thrilled!

The announcement of the physical release on Nintendo Switch and PS5 is music to my ears. I remember waiting eagerly for the physical copies of games back in the days when cartridges were still a thing, and it brings back fond memories of that anticipation. Starting January 9, 2025, Super Rare Games and Thunderful are collaborating to release a special physical version of SteamWorld Build on Nintendo Switch and PS5. Dive into the underground world and prepare to delve deep into its mysterious shadows.

In simpler terms, SteamWorld Build is a mix of city-building and dungeon management games, set within the SteamWorld Universe. Here, you construct and maintain a settlement on a desolate planet. To keep your town alive, you’ll have to juggle resource allocation, building projects, and deep excavations to guarantee its long-term sustainability and eventual escape!

The physical edition of the game will officially launch on January 9th at 6pm GMT (10am PST/1pm EST). A total of 4,000 Nintendo Switch and 2,000 PS5 Standard Editions will be available for purchase globally through Super Rare Games.
