Stellar Blade studio reportedly acquires Switch 2 devkits, but also say nothing has been confirmed regarding its plans for Nintendo’s new console

Shift Up, the creator of Stellar Blade, has spoken out regarding speculation that they are crafting a variant of their popular title for the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, following the game’s triumphant transition to PC.

Last year, Stellar Blade was launched on PlayStation 5, and its popularity led to the developers receiving a PlayStation 5 Pro and generous bonuses this year. Moreover, with the PC version surpassing three million copies sold, staff members at Shift Up have recently been presented with Nintendo Switch 2 consoles as well.

On June 18th, Hyung-Tae Kim, CEO of Shift Up, distributed Nintendo Switch 2 development kits to his team as a celebration for reaching a significant milestone. According to reports from PlayForum (translated via Automaton and machine translation), it’s suggested that the studio started developing games for the platform on the same day, with a possible port of Stellar Blade in the works.

In response to queries on PlayForum about a potential Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade, Shift Up’s representative stated there’s “no confirmation” regarding the matter. Given the circumstances, it makes perfect sense for the rep to express such uncertainty in light of rumors, as a formal announcement would be unlikely for an unannounced project like this one.

As a gamer, I’m pretty excited about the rumors surrounding Stellar Blade 2, but since the studio seems to be rather casual about its release, I guess that’s just how they roll. Regardless, I’ll hold off on getting too hyped until there’s an official announcement confirming its arrival on Switch 2.
