Hi everyone, and welcome to this week’s strategy and wargaming news! It’s been a busy week, and the next one looks just as exciting. Task Force Admiral is now available, MENACE launches on February 5th, we’ve gotten a sneak peek at the Ork faction in Dawn of War 4, and we’re taking a closer look at Slitherine’s upcoming Bolt Action adaptation. Let’s get right into the details!
MENACE Comes Out This Week
The highly anticipated game MENACE is launching on February 5th! Developed by Overhype Studios, the creators of Battle Brothers, and published by Hooded Horse, this space-based, turn-based tactical RPG is shaping up to be fantastic. It’s one of my most anticipated games of 2026, and I’ll be sharing my full review very soon.
Task Force Admiral Finally Came Out
Task Force Admiral, a naval wargame set in the Pacific, recently launched after almost ten years in development and has quickly become a hit with players. It currently has a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam, and I’m finishing up my review. I’m leaning towards giving it a 9 out of 10, though I still need to play the Midway scenario a few more times to be certain. The game’s biggest weakness is a lack of content, but a battle generator helps provide some replayability once you’ve completed the main missions.
Bolt Action Dev Diary Shows Us What The Future Looks Like

I mistakenly left out Bolt Action, the promising turn-based World War 2 strategy game from Slitherine Games, when listing the best wargames of 2026 – a big oversight! There’s been a lot of discussion about how Slitherine is approaching this digital version of the popular tabletop game, but a recent developer update clarified things: they’re staying true to the core gameplay while also adding new improvements and features. You can find a detailed look at the preserved mechanics in my recent article!
Dawn of War 4 Orks Faction Trailer Looks Explosive
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 is shaping up to be the most exciting real-time strategy game of 2026, and early trailers suggest it lives up to the excitement. The game focuses on the Orks, and the latest trailer highlights what makes them so formidable: they’re essentially large, heavily armed warriors who cause massive damage and chaos, accompanied by a lot of shouting.
