Strategy and Wargaming News – 20th April – Star Wars: Zero Company Revealed, Age of Empires 2 – Three Kingdoms, Tempest Rising Reviews

This time around, I’ll share a brief update: The long-awaited Star Wars: Zero Company has been officially confirmed, and there’s an exhilarating new trailer available. Regarding Real-Time Strategy games, Tempest Rising has just been released, and its game designer was recently interviewed by Critical Moves; Age of Empires 2 remains popular and is now being extended to the Chinese Three Kingdoms setting. This week, Distant Worlds 2 and Planet Coaster 2 received significant updates. Let’s explore more about this week’s Firaxis News together!

Star Wars Zero Company

In other words, you’ve previously mentioned that an ideal strategy game would combine elements from XCOM and Star Wars. It seems like someone at EA took notice of your comments and developed Star Wars Zero Company as a result. This game, primarily crafted by the team behind the XCOM reboot, is taking the XCOM formula and applying it to the beloved timeline of the Clone Wars. The trailer hints at an exciting, yet mysterious war, and what could be more engaging than commanding a squad consisting of three popular factions? These include a Clone Trooper, a Jedi, and a Mandalorian. Star Wars Zero Company is expected to release in 2026.

Tempest Rising Reviews Are Promising

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to finally get my hands on Tempest Rising! After years of waiting and anticipation, it seems like the game has truly hit the ground running, offering a long-awaited dose of Command & Conquer that EA hasn’t provided in almost a decade. The response from critics has been overwhelmingly positive, with gaming publications lauding its ability to modernize what made C&C great while maintaining its original charm. Steam users seem to agree, as the game boasts an 88% Very Positive rating. If you’re curious about the thought process behind Tempest Rising, be sure to check out the Critical Moves Podcast, where they interviewed Brandon Casteel, the lead designer. The game retails for $39,99.

Age of Empires 2 – The Three Kingdoms

Age of Empires 2 continues to prove why it’s the greatest real-time strategy game ever created! Even after almost three decades since its initial release in the late ’90s, the game consistently receives new content every few months, and fans (including me) can’t get enough of it. After exploring the Ancient World, Age of Empires 2 is venturing into China with its upcoming The Three Kingdoms DLC set during the early medieval era. This expansion pack will introduce 5 new civilizations, 3 new campaigns, and a host of new units and buildings. It’s amusing to note that Age of Empires 2 will delve into the more mythical aspects of the Three Kingdoms tale by incorporating “legendary characters” with “powerful heroic abilities”. I’m eagerly anticipating seeing how this plays out. The DLC is scheduled for release on May 6th, and it will retail for $19.99.

Test Your Tactics In Distant World 2 Latest Update

Following the launch of Atuuk & Wekkarus DLC recently, Distant Worlds 2 has received another substantial update. This time, the enhancement is centered solely on the tactical aspects of this expansive space strategy title. The Tactics Update introduces more user-friendly fleet settings, a revamped interface, the option to upgrade fleet templates, new fleet policies, and enhanced fleet and ship behavior, making it irresistible for me to revisit Distant Worlds 2.

With the summer heat just around the corner, there’s nothing more enticing to me, an avid fan of water parks, than diving headfirst into Planet Coaster 2 and crafting my very own water paradise!
