Strategy and Wargaming News – 23 November 2025 – Brass Rain New WW2 FPS, Phantom Brigade 2.0 Update, New WDS Game Announced and So Much More!

New Trailers, New Games, and Major News Updates

Wow, it’s been a crazy week for strategy gamers! The biggest news? Paradox is taking over the Cities: Skylines franchise from Colossal Order in 2026 – that’s a huge shakeup. But that wasn’t all! We got a ton of new stuff to play and updates to existing games. Yarnhub, the guys who make those awesome WWII animations, are actually making a game called Brass Rain, a WWII MMOFPS! Matrix Games dropped a big wargame called Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War, and some of my favorite strategy games got massive free updates. Phantom Brigade got a complete 2.0 overhaul, Terra Invicta is almost fully released with its final patch, and Bellfortis got a cool new Japanese DLC. Plus, Wargame Design Studio showed off a sneak peek of their next game, Crusades: Book II. Definitely a lot to keep me busy!

Brass Rain Is A Historical FPS From Youtube Channel Yarnhub

Yarnhub, the popular YouTube channel known for its beautifully animated military history videos, is creating its first video game, called Brass Rain. The game is a free-to-play World War II online shooter for many players, and it’s being funded by fans with over $2.9 million raised. The development team includes veterans from well-known game studios like EA and Remedy. I watched the trailer and it looks fantastic, though I noticed the soldiers reload their M1 Garand rifles a lot – it’s a bit strange seeing the same animation repeated so often, especially since it seems the trailer wasn’t filmed in real-time. I’m excited to see if Brass Rain can become a strong competitor to games like Hell Let Loose and Enlist.

Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War Is Out Now

Matrix Games has just released Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War, the latest game in the popular Flashpoint Campaigns series by On Target Simulations. This new installment is the most detailed yet, offering over 100 scenarios and 10 full campaigns spread across 80 different maps. It features a record number of nations, including the United States, Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union, along with several Eastern European countries. I was hoping to review this expansive game, but it’s so complex and large-scale that I’m unsure I can give it the thorough review it deserves, though I’ll certainly try.

Wargame Design Studios Celebrates Its 4th Anniversary And Announces Crusades: Book II

It’s been four years since Wargame Design Studio began managing the popular John Tiller series of games, and they’ve released 12 new titles and significantly updated many others. Now, they’re excited to announce the next installment in the Sword & Siege series: Crusades: Book II. This is the second game in a trilogy focused on the Crusades, starting in 1149. Players can look forward to features like realistic night shading, scaling ladders, improved AI, and a wealth of new battles and units. Crusades: Book II is expected to launch in the first six months of 2026.

MicroProse Goes Full Steam Ahead And Publishes Battleship Command

MicroProse seems determined to publish every wargame imaginable. Following a couple of big announcements last week, they’ve just revealed Battleship Command, a detailed World War 2 naval simulation. The game focuses on the experience of commanding a single battleship – specifically, a Scharnhorst-class vessel – and realistically simulates all its operations using historical designs. Players can explore the ship in first-person, directly control vital stations, and attempt various tactics to hinder the Allied forces. It looks promising, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet. I’ll be following its development closely.
