Hello there lads, it’s great to be back with another installment of Firaxis updates! This time around, we’ve got the launch of Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition, the exciting announcement of Sudden Strike 5 from Relic Entertainment, and plenty more news, rumors, and launches for you all.
Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition Is Out Now And It’s Amazing
Definitive Edition is undeniably one of the strategic standouts for the year 2025.
Sudden Strike 5 Is Coming Out In 2026
Among all the items on my 2025 bingo card, never did I imagine Sudden Strike 5 would become a reality. Following a lengthy break, SD4 proved to be an acceptable arcade real-time strategy (RTS), with its most notable aspect being the variety of scenarios it covered. Based on current indications, SD5 seems poised to follow in its predecessor’s footsteps quite closely.
Relic Announces New Game: Earth vs Mars
It’s unclear who within Relic Company decided to redirect funds towards unexplored, lesser ventures with great potential, but they deserve a promotion for taking such a risk. More businesses should be open to experimenting with bolder concepts. Earth vs Mars is the initial project of this kind, and it’s proving to be a refreshing twist on the Advance Wars model. You can test out the 3-mission demo immediately.
Panzer Corps 2 New DLC Is Called Westwall
Panzer Corps 2 is steadily progressing towards being a wargame with an unprecedented variety of content, as it’s currently focusing on the Western Front. In Westwall, you’ll command American units as they strive to breach the German fortifications along the Siegfried Line, from September to December 1944. As with previous content, expect new battles and scenarios, new military units such as Dragon’s Teeth and Pillboxes. The upcoming DLC is scheduled for release on August 19, 2025.
WEGO World War II: Stalingrad
On the 25th of June, this classic World War 2 strategy game was released with minimal pomp, which seems unusual to me, considering numerous online comments about its greatness. Based on the foundation of Desert War 1940-42, WEGO World War II: Stalingrad simulates the intense battle for the Russian industrial city of Stalingrad. The scale varies, with some scenarios using 2500 meters per hex and others employing 5000 meters per hex.
