As a long-time fan of Firaxis Games, I always look forward to their weekly updates with bated breath. From my personal gaming history, I can say that their strategy games have provided countless hours of entertainment and strategic depth. This week’s Firaxis News from July 27th to August 7th did not disappoint! The team continues to impress me with their dedication to delivering quality content for their fans. Whether you’re a die-hard XCOM fan or a Civilization enthusiast, there’s always something new and exciting happening in the world of Firaxis Games. Here’s what caught my attention this week:
Headquarters: World War 2 Market Garden DLC
Main Base: In the year 2024, World War II – Market Garden is set to be the initial extension for one of the most captivating strategy games currently under development.
Main Base: World War II – Operation Market Garden introduces a fresh British campaign with eight brand-new battles taking place during this Operation’s events. This expansion will also include 10 new combat units, 3 British commanders as heroes, and various new visual elements to depict the Netherlands authentically.
No release date has been announced.
Stormgate RTS Out Now
The free-to-play real-time strategy game, titled Stormgate, was launched on July 3rd. However, the response from players has been somewhat divided. Criticisms on Steam are primarily focused on the game’s animated visual style and microtransactions. Moreover, some Kickstarter backers express dissatisfaction because their backing doesn’t grant them access to the entire Early Access content roadmap.
Memoriapolis Release Date
Title for city management: Arrival of Memoriapolis is on August 29th. In your role as its leader, guide your city through various eras, spanning approximately 2,500 years, from the Ancient period to the Age of Enlightenment. Each era will introduce new gameplay elements and corresponding challenges for you to conquer.
As a gaming enthusiast, since the trailers suggest that Memoriapolis won’t feature combat, I can’t wait to find out how it will maintain my engagement without relying on traditional action-based mechanics. I’m definitely hooked by its unique promise!
Regiments – Winds of Change DLC Date
Inquire about Regiments, a wargame that’s highly praised by others since Wargame: Red Dragon, and you’ll hear them extol its virtues as the superior choice for war gaming. Now, this indie game sensation is set to release its first Downloadable Content (DLC), named Winds of Change. This expansion will offer:
- Procedural campaigns;
- New units and regiments;
- Heliborne troops and fighter jets;
Regiments – Winds of Change goes live on August 16th.
Wargame Design Studio – New Graphics
