Strategy and Wargaming News – Steam Next Fest, Electronic Arts Does A Good Thing, Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition DLC Trashed Out

Greetings to all! I’ve been out of sight for a while, but if you’re among my Facebook followers, you may have noticed. The reason is rather simple – a busy schedule filled with regular work, demanding workouts, and family commitments. However, in about a month or so, things should be settling down, allowing me to share more content on a regular basis.

The Steam Next Fest Has Amazing Games

Tactical Takedown and Battlefield Commander WWII, though I haven’t had a chance to check them out myself yet.

EA Games Does A Good Deed? What?

It seems as if even an angel might have dropped its feathers this week, given that EA Games has shown unexpected kindness! They’re planning to make available the fully reclaimed source code for Command & Conquer (Tiberium Dawn), C&C Red Alert, C&C Generals, and the Zero Hour expansion pack. This release will be under the General Public Use License, enabling the community to produce content for this cherished series for many years ahead. What a fantastic age we live in! And let me add, they’re also going to include Steam Workshop Support.

ISLANDERS: New Shores Announcement

Among my favorite strategy games to unwind with, ISLANDERS has recently announced an enticing sequel – ISLANDERS: New Shores, expected to release in Summer 2025. This upcoming title promises fresh buildings, properties, and new islands for you to explore. If you’re unfamiliar with ISLANDERS, it’s a city-building game that focuses on high scores by strategically placing different types of units to create combos, accumulate points to unlock additional units, and ultimately construct more powerful combos. The original ISLANDERS is currently on sale for only a dollar, so I recommend giving it a try!

Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition Players Receive Bad News

The planned DLC for Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition has been cancelled following careful evaluation. Instead, they’re directing players towards community-created mods and ensuring servers will stay operational. This communication might come off as a corporate way of saying “We won’t be working on it anymore, but we’ll do the minimum to keep people quiet.” It’s understandable that fans are disappointed, and their feelings are justified.

Knights In Tight Spaces Launches In March

In three short days, the game “Knights in Tight Spaces” will be released. Unlike in “Fights in Tight Spaces,” where you controlled the suave, suit-wearing John Wick, this time around, you’ll command a team of characters with a medieval vibe, engaging in turn-based combat. The core concept remains unchanged: strategically use your cards to move and arrange your characters for maximum damage. The new addition of fighting alongside others offers more intricate combos, which I find delightfully appealing in the most satisfying way possible. Go ahead and try its demo right now!

Broken Arrow Impressions Out Soon

You could have noticed that popular YouTubers and gaming influencers are trying out Broken Arrow. We’ve been given a sneak peek at the single-player version, so I’ll be sharing my thoughts on it over the next few days. I hope the game lives up to the hype and impresses me as much now as it did a couple of months ago.

Tally-Ho Corner Interviews Nuno From Firaxis

In 2017, I launched OneHexAway with Tim Stone’s work deeply inspiring me – arguably the most knowledgeable figure in the wargames field. It’s no wonder that getting an interview request from someone whose work I admire greatly felt like a privilege. I responded to his challenging questions, and shortly after, he skillfully edited and published them for all to read a couple of days later. If you’re curious about me, feel free to take a look!
