Great Strategy Game News All Week, With Plenty More To Come
Wow, things are really heating up in the strategy and wargaming world lately! It’s a nice change of pace from the usual quiet period we see this time of year. And the best part? It doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon – there’s a big Total War announcement coming at The Game Awards! This week alone has been packed with news: Medieval 3 is on the way, Slitherine Next is almost here, and they just dropped a new Dawn of War 4 trailer showing off a Primarch everyone’s been wanting to play. Seriously, there’s so much to be excited about!
The Future of Total War
Great news for strategy game fans! Development of Total War: Medieval 3 has begun, though it’s still in the very early stages. This means players who enjoy the historical Total War games will likely have to wait a couple of years before the game is released, but it is confirmed to be in the works.
A new game engine is in the works, and we’ll see the next Total War game revealed at The Game Awards in just a few days. I’m guessing it will be either Total War: Star Wars or Total War: Warhammer 40,000.

Dawn of War 4 Will Have Feature Lion El’Jonson
The latest trailer for Dawn of War 4 has quickly become popular, racking up over 750,000 views. A big reason for this is that the Dark Angels, a long-time fan favorite, are taking center stage – a welcome change from the usual focus on the Ultramarines. The game’s developer, King Art Games, has announced that players will be able to control Lion El’Jonson, the Dark Angels Primarch, during the later parts of the single-player campaign, and that the Dark Angels will be a playable faction overall. It’s clear that the Dawn of War 4 team is going all out to excite fans of both the RTS genre and the Warhammer universe, and so far, their efforts are paying off.
Slitherine Next Happening This Week

Slitherine has more announcements planned for this year, and they’ll be revealed during the upcoming Slitherine Next event. Expect big news about their main projects, including updates for games like Panzer Corps 2, Starship Troopers: Terran Command, and Broken Arrow. Tune in to their live stream on YouTube and Twitch on December 9th, 2025, at 6:00 PM Central European Time.
Ashes of Singularity 2 First Gameplay Trailer
I’m really looking forward to playing Ashes of Singularity 2, a real-time strategy game expected in 2026. They recently released a new trailer that gives you a sense of just how huge the game is – the developers told me it’s massive!
RuneQuest: Warlords Out Next Week

On December 9th, the first video game based in the world of RuneQuest will be released. Developed by Virtuos and published by Slitherine, it uses the same technology that powered the critically acclaimed Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector. In RuneQuest: Warlords, a turn-based strategy game, you’ll lead a tribal hero from the Talastar to defend Dorastor against the forces of Chaos. Instead of the usual medieval European setting found in many fantasy games, RuneQuest takes place in a unique world inspired by the Bronze Age, drawing influences from Greek, Celtic, and Mycenean cultures.
