Here’s the latest in strategy and wargaming: the game Strategos is now available, Task Force Admiral releases on the 27th, and I’ll be participating in Slitherine’s Hot Seat event. Find out more below.
Firaxis To Feature In The Hotseat

This week, I’m sharing the Firaxis News update myself! That’s because I’ve been invited to join ‘The Hot Seat’ – a live event happening January 28th. It will also feature Ian Fischer, a well-known expert from the Age of Empires 2 team, and Patrick Streppel, the Chief Product Officer at Jumpgate AB.
Okay, so I know some people will be tuning in to hear about the big, serious things happening in the industry, but I’m joining the livestream to talk about all the fun stuff! I can’t reveal everything just yet, but here’s a little sneak peek: Slitherine and I are putting together our own Game of the Year Awards, and the best part is, you get to decide the winners! Make sure to watch and cast your vote!
The Hot Seat is a monthly show hosted by Marco Minoli, Slitherine’s Marketing Director, where he has detailed conversations with strategy game developers and other people working in the gaming industry. Be sure to watch the next episode on January 28th at 6 pm CET on YouTube and Twitch.
Turn-Based Strategy Games Market To Reach $15.2 Billion By 2033

It’s clear that strategy games are thriving, despite past predictions to the contrary. A recent report estimates the turn-based strategy game market was worth $6.9 billion in 2024 and could reach $15.2 billion by 2033. This growth is being driven by the increasing popularity of these games with players of all ages. It’s no surprise that lists of top strategy games, like mine for 2026, are doing so well – people are eager to find new and engaging experiences!
Strategos Brings Ancient Warfare Into 2026

Strategos is a hit! It’s already made my list of the 10 best medieval and ancient strategy games, and players on Steam are loving it – it currently has a ‘Very Positive’ rating. It’s great to see this unique strategy game succeeding!
War In Spain 1936-1939 Out Now

Okay, so I just found out about this new game, War in Spain 1936-1939, and it looks pretty intense. If you don’t constantly read gaming news like I do, you might have missed it. Apparently, it’s the most detailed and realistic game ever made about the Spanish Civil War, which is a huge deal historically. The folks at Matrix and Slitherine sent me a review copy, which is awesome, but honestly, I haven’t had a chance to play it yet this week. Hopefully, by the time you’re reading this, I’ll have finally jumped in and can tell you what I think!
