Street Fighter 6 Graphics Showdown: Switch 2 vs PS5 – You Won’t Believe the Difference!

Summary

  • The Street Fighter 6 Switch 2 port seems to fall somewhere between the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game in terms of graphical fidelity.
  • This comparison underlines the fact that the Switch 2 is about as powerful as modern handheld consoles get.
  • Street Fighter 6 will be part of the Switch 2 launch game lineup, being slated to release on June 5.

Just a few short days following the announcement of Street Fighter 6 on Nintendo’s upcoming console, there’s already a detailed visual comparison video between its Switch 2, PS4, and PS5 versions circulating online. The emergence of this video appears to be an optimistic indicator for the Switch 2, hinting that it could potentially produce impressive graphics for a handheld system.

On the heels of the Switch-centric Nintendo Direct on April 2nd, I was thrilled to attend two Treehouse presentations that followed in the subsequent days. These sessions primarily highlighted a selection of launch titles for the eagerly anticipated console, with a special focus on Capcom’s very own port of their iconic fighting game, Street Fighter 6.

After analyzing extensively, YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits compiled a significant amount of footage to contrast it with the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5) versions of Street Fighter 6. A 15-minute video comparison indicates that the graphics quality of the Switch 2 version is expected to be roughly equivalent to that of its PS4 and PS5 counterparts.

In comparison to the Switch 2 version of Street Fighter 6, the PlayStation 5 edition features slightly more intricate lighting effects and sharper textures, although these differences are most noticeable when scrutinizing the details closely. Remarkably, the Switch 2, with its advanced hardware, seems well-equipped to handle Street Fighter 6, matching the expectations for a contemporary handheld console. Notably, Capcom has confirmed that the game runs consistently at 60fps on the Switch 2, which is comparable to its performance on other platforms. At this point, it remains undecided whether the smooth 60fps performance will be maintained in the World Tour Mode, where fights ran at 30fps on the PS4 but at 60fps on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Street Fighter 6 Switch 2 Port Will Offer Some New Features

In the upcoming version 2 of Street Fighter 6 for Nintendo Switch 2, there will be unique additions such as:

1. Calorie Contest: A competitive mode where two players strive to burn the maximum number of calories.
2. Gyro Battle: A mode that challenges players to execute various combos using the gyroscopic controls of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Among the 20 games confirmed as launch titles for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, “Street Fighter 6” is one of them. Additionally, “Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition”, “Hitman: World of Assassination”, “Mario Kart World”, “Deltarune”, and “Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess” will also be available on its debut day. Similarly, “Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut” and the Nintendo Switch 2 versions of “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom” are also scheduled for release at the same time. The new Nintendo Switch is set to hit the shelves on June 5, with an initial U.S. price tag of $449.99. However, due to recent tariffs imposed by the government on Japanese goods, there’s a possibility that the console could end up costing more.
