Despite not releasing a new Ace Attorney series installment since 2017, Capcom has managed to keep the franchise thriving in various creative ways. For one, they have been updating and porting nearly every game in the series onto contemporary platforms. Furthermore, in March 2025, the publisher organized an Ace Attorney-themed crossover event for its popular fighting game, Street Fighter 6. This special event included a Turnabout Gala battle pass, offering exclusive rewards that were only accessible to players from March 3 to March 24.
In Street Fighter 6, there was a partnership with Ace Attorney which introduced a new Capcom arcade game, Steel Samurai avatar items, an Objection! emote, and music tracks from the Ace Attorney series. The event’s battle pass also offered Ace Attorney-themed stickers and camera frames for use in the photo mode. However, most of these crossover items couldn’t be obtained without spending some of Street Fighter 6’s in-game currency. Although it was great that Capcom acknowledged the Ace Attorney franchise in Street Fighter 6, this collaboration had one significant drawback: no new guest characters were included.
Street Fighter 6’s Ace Attorney Collab Could Have Been So Much More

Despite Collaborating With Several Franchises, SF6 Doesn’t Have Many Guest Characters
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve noticed that over the years, many iterations of Street Fighter have introduced characters from other game series as extras. However, Street Fighter 6 seems to be a bit more selective compared to its predecessors in this aspect. So far, only two guest fighters have made an appearance in the entire game: Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui. Interestingly, these two combatants hail from SNK’s Fatal Fury and King of Fighters universes, and they were added as part of the second DLC package for Street Fighter 6.
Fans have expressed dissatisfaction as many of the collaborations in Street Fighter 6 appear to be shallow. While Capcom has organized crossover events with other non-fighting game franchises such as Spy x Family and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles within SF6, these partnerships have only resulted in unlockable cosmetic items thus far. Many players probably anticipated that these collaborations would introduce new characters to the game, each with unique abilities and move sets. Instead, they received essentially costly skins that offer no practical benefits for gameplay.
Capcom Should Have Made Phoenix Wright a Playable Character in SF6, Just as it Did in Ultimate MvC3
It’s particularly disheartening that the recent team-up between Ace Attorney also encountered this same issue, given the anticipation from fans who have longed for the series’ characters to battle it out in a fighting game once more. Interestingly, Phoenix Wright, the star of the Ace Attorney franchise, has previously made an appearance in a game similar to Street Fighter 6. Back in 2011, Capcom introduced him as a playable character in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, which was essentially an updated version of the original MvC 3. Despite being a lawyer without superhuman powers, Phoenix proved himself to be a formidable fighter, not appearing as an afterthought or joke addition to the game.
Capcom had an excellent chance to rectify the scarcity of new guest characters in Street Fighter 6’s crossover events by incorporating Phoenix Wright into the game, similar to how it was done in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Regrettably, rather than implementing this idea, the company chose to add a few Ace Attorney-themed decals, photo frames, and armor sets for the recent partnership. While new cosmetic items can be thrilling, when a game like Street Fighter 6 fills its crossover event solely with such items, they tend to be more disheartening than entertaining.
