Street Fighter 6’s Next Patch Will Nerf the Freaky Incest Storyline

Capcom is revising a problematic storyline in Street Fighter 6. The story, which involved inappropriate themes and appeared when Alex was added as downloadable content, is being changed due to criticism.

While Street Fighter is known for its fighting, the game’s story and arcade modes actually reveal the characters’ personal lives, including romances. We see that fighters like Ken and Dhalsim have happy families and relationships outside of the tournaments.

The addition of Alex to Street Fighter 6 caused online debate when details emerged about his family ties – specifically, that he was married to a relative. Director Takayuki Nakayama has since apologized on Twitter for the issue and announced that a future update will address it.

Street Fighter 6 Is Changing Alex’s Controversial Ending

The issue with Alex’s story in Street Fighter 6 revolves around his relationship with Patricia. The game confirms they are married and expecting a child. This is complicated by the fact that Patricia is actually Alex’s second cousin – they grew up together like siblings, with Alex being a bit older. The ending shows flashbacks of them as a baby and as adults at their wedding.

Although not against the law, many fans are disturbed by a storyline in Street Fighter 6 where Alex marries and has a child with a relative he grew up with, and that’s why they’re upset.

So, Patricia and I are basically siblings – we grew up together, even though I’m a few years older than her. She’s my second cousin, but honestly, we’re more like family than that title suggests.

It’s hard to say how Capcom will rewrite the dialogue in this ending without significantly altering the established story. Perhaps they’ll change details about Alex, like his hometown or last name – maybe even give him a new one, like Alex Lannister, considering his hair color?

It’s good that Capcom is listening to player concerns. Now, the big question is whether they can resolve this situation successfully, or if this new downloadable character will always be remembered for this strange controversy.
