Strongest Human Hybrids In One Piece

As a longtime fan of One Piece and its intriguing world-building, I must say that the character of Bartholomew Kuma is one that truly tugs at my heartstrings. His tragic past as a persecuted buccaneer, his selfless acts in service to others, and his eventual transformation into a Pacifista, all serve to highlight the depth and complexity of this character.

In the world of One Piece, humans are quite common yet relatively weak compared to other races. Yet, there are some individuals who harbor immense potential. With proper training and refinement, these humans can become formidable forces in their own right. Interestingly, there have been instances where humans have interbred with other races, bestowing their offspring with a greater natural strength than they would typically possess.

Although it’s uncertain whether these hybrids exceed or inherently lag behind their purebred equivalents in terms of strength, some of them still prove to be formidable fighters, establishing themselves as among the strongest characters in the broader narrative.

5 Dellinger

Fish-Man/Human Hybrid

  • Affiliation: Donquixote Pirates; Diamante Army
  • Parentage: Unclear, mixture of human/fish-man ancestry
  • Devil Fruit: None

Dellinger belongs to the upper echelons of the Donquixote Pirates, a select group within their organization. Being human yet part-fighting fish, his origins are somewhat unclear due to him having no identified parents. The pirate crew found him as an orphan and raised him under the guidance of Giolla, another member of the family, shaping aspects of Dellinger’s personality, including his preference for wearing high heels in battle, which he even uses as a weapon.

As a child who tagged along with the crew since their conquest of Dressrosa, I’ve grown up knowing Dellinger as an adversary worth respecting. His human teeth might seem harmless, but they conceal a set of razor-sharp fighting fish fangs that make him a formidable opponent. Just like Arlong, he appears to have the ability to grow and discard his teeth at will, although the full extent of this power is still uncertain.

4 Charlotte Amande

Snakeneck/Human Hybrid

  • Affiliation: Big Mom Pirates
  • Parentage: Unidentified Snakeneck (Father), Charlotte Linlin (Human Mother)
  • Devil Fruit: None

Amande hails from the elusive Snakeneck Tribe, found exclusively within Totto Land. In the Big Mom Pirates, where she serves as an officer, all known members are human hybrids born to Linlin. Remarkably, Amande has three full-blooded sisters and several half-siblings of Snakeneck lineage among her numerous siblings from diverse races.

Among the Charlotte siblings, Amande’s military rank is not particularly exceptional. However, what sets her apart within the Vinsmoke Family is her notable strength. She has demonstrated this by brutally slaying several knights in order to obtain eggs. Despite having minimal screen time, she is portrayed as proficient with her preferred weapon, a renowned sword called Shirauo.

3 Charlotte Smoothie

Longleg/Human Hybrid

  • Affiliation: Big Mom Pirates; Three Sweet Commanders
  • Parentage: Unidentified Longleg (Father), Charlotte Linlin (Human Mother)
  • Devil Fruit: Shibo Shibo no Mi

Smoothie hails from the Longleg Tribe, is Linlin’s daughter, which makes her a part of the Big Mom Pirates.

The race is recognized for their elongated and robust limbs, which they often take pride in showcasing and adorning. Alongside her sisters Citron and Cinnamon, Smoothie is also characterized by this feature, with Tamago, a crew member known for combat, being another long-legged individual. It’s believed that Tamago is not connected to the Charlotte family lineage.

In battle, Smoothie relies on her Shibo Shibo no Mi ability, which enables her to extract and absorb juice from other living entities. Instead of fighting using her legs, she stores juice within a large, unnamed sword that she can launch as a projectile when necessary. Additionally, Smoothie possesses the capability to use two types of Haki. Beyond her demonstrated prowess, Smoothie stands out as one of the Three Sweet Commanders, a title given to the three most powerful pirates within their crew, excluding the captain. She is in this elite company alongside Charlotte Katakuri, who has proven himself capable of matching strength with Luffy.

2 Most of the Seraphim

Lunarian/Human Hybrids

  • Affiliation: Formerly Vegapunk, Currently World Government
  • Parentage: King (Genetic Ancestor), Ex-Warlords (Templates), Vegapunk (Creator)
  • Devil Fruit: None. Green Blood allows each to have a Paramecia power

Vegapunk has developed a fresh type of cyborgs known as Pacifista, which bear a striking resemblance to the Seven Sea Warlords in their youthful forms. However, what sets these apart is that they possess lunarian genes due to being experimented on by the Beasts Pirates’ King during his time at Punk Hazard. Since most of the original Warlords were human, we can categorize the majority of these Pacifistas as half-human hybrids. The named hybrid characters are S-Snake and S-Hawk, who are modeled after Boa Hancock and Dracule Mihawk respectively.

In addition to fitting the description, S-Bear is a clone of Kuma, which gives him Buccaneer lineage as well. The exception among them all is S-Shark, who being Jimbei’s counterpart, is the only non-human hybrid in the group. There are three characters similar to Crocodile, namely Gecko Moria and Donquixote Doflamingo that are still active. Following traditional naming patterns, they could be referred to as S-Crocodile, S-Gecko, and S-Flamingo respectively.

According to Marine Admiral Issho, Seraphim were thought to be powerful enough to take over from the Warlords, thereby re-establishing the power balance that had been disrupted upon their abolition. This assumption was supported by their successful confrontations against notorious entities such as Blackbeard and the Straw Hat Pirates, who are currently regarded as significant threats to the World Government. Being partially biological in nature, they have the potential to age and potentially grow stronger over time.

1 Bartholomew Kuma

Buccaneer/Human Hybrid

  • Affiliation: Revolutionary Army (Formerly), Seven Warlords of the Sea (Formerly)
  • Parentage: Clapp (Buccaneer Father), Unnamed Human Mother
  • Devil Fruit: Nikyu Nikyu no Mi

Bartholomew Kuma was a compassionate individual who utilized his power to shield those he held dear. His own painful past as a slave from the severely oppressed pirate race, constantly pursued, left an indelible mark on him and fueled his desire to aid the vulnerable. He assumed various roles such as a priest, rebel leader, and monarch, yet remained consistently kind-hearted throughout all his experiences. Significantly, he functioned as Bonney’s surrogate father, having been in a relationship with her mother, Ginny, who bore Bonney while enslaved by a World Noble. His unwavering intention was to safeguard Bonney, even if it meant sacrificing himself.

In essence, he transformed into a Pacifista, assigned to safeguard the Thousand Sunny. However, during this period, Kuma demonstrated impressive combat skills, easily overpowering the Straw Hats. This strength was further emphasized by his Nikyu Nikyu no Mi ability, which enables him to emit air blasts and transfer pain between individuals.

It’s uncertain if buccaneers are a separate race from humans, given their colossal lineage, even though not all of them tower like some giant humans. For instance, Big Mom is human (as far as we know), but she’s still considered giant-like. The parentage of characters like Kuma’s father and Clapp isn’t known, making it hard to determine the extent of their giant heritage. However, they are recognized as buccaneers. This pirate race is said to have perpetrated a major transgression, but its specific nature remains unrevealed.
