15 Dragalge
Base Stat Total: 494
Dragalge, being both a Dragon and Poison type Pokémon, boasts an impressive defensive and offensive strength with minimal vulnerabilities. Its only double weakness lies against Fighting-type moves such as Close Combat and Force Palm due to a 2x multiplier. However, its remarkable Special Defense stat allows it to withstand most special attacks in the majority of scenarios. Its slow Speed (44) necessitates this tankiness to survive beyond a single turn on the battlefield.
In an offensive role, Dragalge capitalizes on its solid Special Attack stat to inflict damage effectively. With a diverse move set at its disposal, it can utilize remarkable moves such as Draco Meteor and Sludge Bomb for STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), and Focus Blast for broader coverage. Additionally, Dragalge serves as a hazard setter due to its ability to learn Toxic Spikes. The most outstanding aspect of Dragalge is its ability, Adaptability, which raises its STAB bonus from 1.5x to 2.0x, amplifying the power of its already potent moves even further.
In the world of Pokémon Y, Dragalge is a unique creature that can be caught by fishing with a Super Rod. This can be done in Route 8, Cyllage City, and Ambrette Town. Contrarily, Dragalge cannot be found or encountered in the game called Pokémon X.
14 Pangoro
Base Stat Total: 495
In the games X & Y, Pangoro stands out as one of the top non-legendary offensive Pokemon, thanks largely to its incredibly high Attack stat (124). Its Fighting/Dark typing offers exceptional type coverage, enabling it to inflict super effective damage on nearly half of all Pokemon and neutral damage against the rest. The only types that can withstand Pangoro’s persistent attacks are those that are Fairy-type.
As a gamer, I’ve found that Fairy-type Pokemon are the ones I dread facing most when playing with Pangoro. Their STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) attacks can deal an astounding four times the damage to it. On top of that, Flying and Fighting types pose a significant threat too, as they dish out double damage to Pangoro. So, always keep an eye out for these types when strategizing!
From Movepool perspective, Pangoro boasts numerous choices. It’s crucial to have Drain Punch, as it restores health with each strike and inflicts reasonable damage. Bullet Punch is a top-tier move that always initiates first unless the opposing Pokemon uses a similar Speed boosting move. This feature allows Pangoro to dodge being outsped in challenging encounters. The move Swords Dance enhances Pangoro’s already impressive Attack stat by two stages after use. Combined with Bullet Punch, it can quickly transform Pangoro from a moderate offensive Pokemon into a physical sweeper, potentially one-shotting entire teams in the twinkling of an eye.
Pangoro can only be obtained by evolving a Pancham found in Route 5.
13 Talonflame
Base Stat Total: 499
The pairing of Fire and Flying types generally works well, offering six resistances, an immunity to Ground, the ability to deal significant damage in five different categories, and just three weaknesses as potential drawbacks. However, both types struggle significantly against Rock-types, particularly defensively due to the 4x vulnerability they possess. At first glance, Talonflame may not appear impressive, boasting a high speed of 126 but with an Attack stat that’s merely average at best.
The special ability “Gale Wings” presents a contrasting image. It boasts a fundamental yet extraordinarily beneficial impact, as it grants all Flying-type moves precedence, ensuring they are always executed first. This was before this Ability received a nerf in Generation 7, making it only effective when at full health; thus, it comes with no real disadvantages. When you consider that Talonflame can utilize powerful Flying-type moves like Brave Bird and Acrobatics, it performs its role exceptionally well.
Wild Fletchling are native to Route 2, Route 3, and the Santalune Forest.
12 Hawlucha, Clawitzer, And Aesgislash
Base Stat Total: 500
Hawlucha shares many characteristics with Talonflame. While it’s slightly more robust, it’s also slower by comparison. Its type pairing of Fighting/Flying offers superior offensive power but inferior defensive capabilities compared to Fire/Flying. Remarkably, it also possesses a comparable Speed-based Ability, Unburden, which effectively doubles its Speed stat when it discards an item.
Clawitzer is exclusively a Water-type Pokemon, and having a pure Water type makes it quite powerful. It has only two vulnerabilities, but boasts four resistances and three strengths. Despite being a bit sluggish, Clawitzer excels in the Special Attack department with an impressive stat of 120, backed by decent defenses. However, what truly sets Clawitzer apart is its exceptional Ability called Mega Launcher. This ability amplifies aura and pulse moves by 50%. Clawitzer can learn several moves that benefit from this boost, such as Aura Sphere, Water Pulse, Dark Pulse, and Dragon Pulse.
Aegislash is an incredibly formidable Pokémon. It boasts a fantastic type duo of Steel and Ghost, offering it nine resistances, three immunities, and just four vulnerabilities defensively. This defensive setup ties with Steel/Electric and Steel/Normal for the most resistances any combination can have. Offensively, Aegislash can strike five different types for super-effective damage, making no single type immune to both Steel and Ghost attacks simultaneously. It also possesses a distinctive ability called Stance Change, which alters Aegislash’s stats based on the move it is currently employing. When using an attack move, it transforms into Blade Forme, boasting 140 in both offensive stats. Conversely, when using King’s Shield, it shifts to Shield Forme, showcasing 140 in both defensive stats instead.
Regarding King’s Shield, this move is incredibly strong and versatile. It provides immunity from damage during its activation, always taking priority, and if an opponent attacks Aegislash with a physical move while the shield is active, their attack power will be reduced by half. This Pokemon is highly effective in single-player playthroughs because it seems to cover all possibilities.
On Route 8, you may encounter wild Claunchers, as well as in Ambrette Town and Cyllage City, while angling with the Good Rod (available exclusively in X). Furthermore, you’ll find wild Hawluchas on Route 10, and wild Honedge can be found on Route 6.
11 Pyroar
Base Stat Total: 507
In simpler terms, Pyroar is a Pokemon that primarily uses Fire and Normal elemental attacks, boasting a robust defensive profile with only four vulnerabilities, six resistances, and an immunity to Ghost-type attacks. Offensively, it may not be as formidable, but it has the advantage of being super effective against four types of Pokémon, and it resists both types of its Self-Taught Attacks (STABs), except for Rock-types. Its stat distribution is beneficial; Pyroar has a good amount of HP, high Special Attack, and speed. Additionally, it possesses an ability called Unnerve, which prevents opponents from using Berries when Pyroar is in battle.
Pyroar seems to struggle somewhat due to its limited variety of movable attacks, as it primarily focuses on special attacks within the Fire, Normal, and Dark types. Expanding its repertoire of moves would significantly enhance its potential as a Pokemon.
Pyroar’s first form is known as Litleo, and it can be caught on Route 22.
10 Avalugg
Base Stat Total: 514
Avalugg, being an enormous Pokemon solely of the Ice type, follows the saying, “bigger is not always better.” Despite its impressive HP, Attack, and Defense statistics, it’s plagued by significant weaknesses elsewhere, particularly in its Special Defense. None of its abilities stand out either, which further complicates matters. Given that Ice is a subpar defensive type, you’re left with quite a challenging situation when using Avalugg on the battlefield.
You’ll come across Bergmite in the Frost Cavern, which lies to the north of Dendemille Town, quite deep into the game. These small creatures can eventually be evolved into Avalugg by players.
9 Tyrantrum And Aurorus
Base Stat Total: 521
These are the 2 Fossil Pokemon for Gen 6. Tyrantrum is a Rock/Dragon-type Pokemon and Aurorus is a Rock/Ice-type, both sharing a base stat total of 521. These are both very solid choices for your team. They both get 2 good abilities each, have strong offensive typing, good movepools, and well-distributed stats. Their only real drawback is that they both have horrible typing defensively, but if players are fine with this, this duo will not disappoint.
The Jaw and Sail Fossils are found deep within Shimmering Cavern. Players will have to decide between these two finds, as they can only select one. Once a choice is made, the selected fossil should be brought to the lab in Ambrette Town for revival.
8 Sylveon
Base Stat Total: 525
Sylveon is the most recent evolution of Eevee, exclusively a Fairy-type Pokemon, boasting impressive Health Points (HP), Special Attack, and Special Defense capabilities. Notably, the Fairy type excels in both offensive and defensive aspects.
Among the abilities that Sylveon possesses, both Charm and Pixilate are useful, but Pixilate stands out as being more advantageous. However, one weakness of Sylveon is its limited variety in attacking moves, which means it tends to rely heavily on specific types when engaging in combat.
On Route 10, you can find and capture the wild Eevee. To transform Eevee into Sylveon, players should raise its affection levels significantly and equip it with a Fairy-style attack move.
7 Chesnaught And Greninja
Base Stat Total: 530
Chesnaught is the advanced form of Chespin, the grass-type starter from Generation 6. Its counterpart is Greninja, the water-type equivalent. Chesnaught is a grass and fighting type with impressive health, attack, and defense levels. Its characteristics are somewhat balanced, offering many resistances and vulnerabilities. On the other hand, Greninja is a water and dark-type Pokemon with high attacking and speed capabilities. It’s quite versatile due to its role as a mixed attacker and having a good variety of moves at its disposal. Additionally, its Protean ability enhances its offensive potential even further.
At the start of the game, both Chespin and Froakie are distributed to the players. If a player desires additional instances of these characters, they would need to engage in trades with others who have extra Pokémon from different games.
6 Gogoat
Base Stat Total: 531
Goatit is a purely Grass-type Pokemon that functions as a versatile attacker, boasting exceptionally high HP but average to poor defensive abilities. Its move set capitalizes on its mixed attacking capabilities, as it can master moves effective from both sides. However, being a pure Grass type carries numerous vulnerabilities, and Goatit is comparatively sluggish, making it relatively simple to defeat.
Wild Skiddo can be found on Route 5, which evolve into Gogoat at level 32.
5 Delphox
Base Stat Total: 534
In Generation 6, Delphox stands as the fully developed Fire-type starter. Despite its Fire/Psychic type having five vulnerabilities, its seven resistances are absolutely noteworthy. Its stats are simply outstanding: Delphox boasts speed, an exceptionally high Special Attack, and an impressive ability to withstand Special attacks. Additionally, it sports a good move set to top it all off, making it an extremely valuable Pokemon.
At the onset of your adventure, you receive a Fennekin. Over time, this creature transforms into Delphox. Should you wish to obtain additional Fennekins, trading them from different games would be necessary.
4 Noivern
Base Stat Total: 535
Noivern, a Flying/Dragon type Pokemon, boasts extraordinary speed and a potent Special Attack, making it a formidable and dependable offensive force. Regrettably, this prowess comes with a fragile constitution, as its defenses are relatively weak despite an acceptable HP level. Additionally, Noivern is particularly vulnerable to Ice-type attacks. Yet, its move set is broad, enabling it to maximize its offensive potential fully.
You can locate Noibat in either Terminus Cave or Victory Road. Similar to other Dragon-type creatures, its evolution process requires some patience. This particular Pokemon transforms into Noivern at level 48.
3 Florges
Base Stat Total: 552
Florges is a pure Fairy-type Pokemon that boasts impressive attributes, notably high Special Attack and Special Defense, along with decent HP. The Fairy type is quite powerful, but Florges faces challenges in its movepool and abilities. Its abilities are effective only in Double Battles, making them useless in Single battles. Additionally, Florges has limited offensive options, providing it with minimal coverage.
A significant number of Wild Flabébé can be found along Routes 4 and 7. To completely transform it into Florgés, players must acquire a Shiny Stone.
2 Goodra, Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa, And Volcanion
Base Stat Total: 600
In this five-way standoff, we find Gen 6’s Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon Goodra joined by four authentic Legendary Pokemon: Zygarde, Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion. They all boast a base stat total of 600. Goodra is a commendable Pokemon due to its versatile type, move set, and stats, although trainers must put in effort to evolve it. Zygarde impresses with its excellent type mix and well-rounded stats. The same can be said for Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion, making each of these Pokemon valuable additions to any team.
As a passionate Pokémon trainer, I’ve discovered that Wild Goomy resides on Route 14. To fully evolve this fascinating creature, it needs to be leveled up to 50 or beyond in an area where it’s raining – so keep those raincoats handy!
1 Xerneas And Yveltal

For the games X and Y, these are the emblematic Pokemon known as Xerneas and Yveltal, serving as their mascots. Xerneas is a single type Fairy, while Yveltal is a dual type Dark/Flying.
