The successful launch of Ghost of Yotei, a sequel to the popular Ghost of Tsushima, has been a big win for PlayStation. Now, the game’s developer, Sucker Punch, is considering either a new Sly Cooper game or another installment in the Infamous series as their next project.
I first really took notice of Sucker Punch Productions with Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus back in 2001 – they had done a game before that, Rocket: Robot on Wheels in ’99, but that one didn’t really stick with anyone. They made two more Sly games after that, although Sanzaru Games took over for the fourth one. Then they switched gears and created the inFamous series, delivering five different inFamous games between 2009 and 2014. And most recently, they blew everyone away with Ghost of Tsushima!
I’m really excited about the Legends update for Ghost of Tsushima, and it sounds like Sucker Punch is already thinking about what they’ll do after that! I wonder what’s next for the game…
“Going Back To Sly” A Serious Possibility For Sucker Punch Studios
Speaking with VideoGamer, Brian Fleming, studio head and co-founder of Sucker Punch, explained that their next project – whether it’s another Ghost of Tsushima game or a return to the Sly series – will depend on their commitment to taking the time needed for development. They prefer to focus on just one project at a time to ensure quality.
Fleming indicates that despite the studio’s size, it can’t do more than one project at a time.
In a recent interview with GameInformer, Nate Fox, co-creative director of Ghost of Yotei, expressed his desire for Sucker Punch to create more games in the *inFamous* series. He also indicated that whatever project the studio undertakes next will likely be their main focus for the next several years.
Sucker Punch Productions has quietly become a leading game developer, consistently delivering high-quality titles without any major issues or scandals. Now that the core of their new game, Ghost of Yotei, is finished – except for future updates – it will be exciting to see what they do next.
It’s a big question for fans: will Sucker Punch Productions consider making a new game in the Sly Cooper or inFamous series? And will they complete the Ghost of Tsushima story with a third game? We’re curious to hear what you, the fans, are hoping to see from this talented studio. Share your ideas and discuss everything on the TopMob Forum!
