Summary

  • Konami has shared a preview of the first post-release update for Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster.
  • The upcoming patch will introduce a variety of bug fixes and address some annoying issues, like the inability to close the PC version of the game natively.
  • The update itself is still waiting for a release date.

I’m thrilled to share that Konami has given us a glimpse into their upcoming update plans for my beloved games, Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster: Gate of Rune and Dunan Unification Wars. The detailed changelog unveils the very first patch that Konami is working on for these remastered versions of Suikoden 1 and 2.

Initially planned for a 2023 launch, the “Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster” faced a significant setback in August 2023. Eventually, it was released for PC and console platforms on March 6, 2025.

With the release of the HD Remastered versions of Suikoden 1 and 2, Konami has shifted focus to enhancing their classic JRPG collection. To achieve this goal, they have recently disclosed a summary of various issues they aim to resolve, as well as new features that will be added to the remasters. Since all the elements detailed by the company are intended to be included in a single update, this list effectively serves as a log for the game’s first patch.

First Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster Update Will Address One Big PC Oversight

Regarding improvements and user experience enhancements, the forthcoming update for Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster on PC is designed to rectify a significant issue: the lack of a native close function. Currently, players utilizing the Steam version of the remastered edition must either use the ALT+F4 shortcut or open the Steam overlay (default is Shift + Tab), then click “Exit Game” in the top-left corner to close it. The initial post-launch update will also incorporate a feature that allows adjusting the speed of background music during battles when the double-speed option is selected.

With the upcoming update, players can anticipate enhancements to their overall gaming experience. These improvements include the option to mute footstep sounds and enable auto-save automatically. The patch is also set to optimize the Retrieve feature in the storage room, giving players easy access to information about whether a specific equipment item can be used and how it will affect the stats of the selected unit in the game Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster. Furthermore, Konami has pledged to address inconsistencies across different language versions and resolve an issue with healing Runes that prevents them from functioning properly when used on the battlefield if there are vacant slots in the party.

The initial post-launch upgrade for the game hasn’t been given a release date yet, but Konami assures fans that they will announce it as soon as the patch is nearly complete. Simultaneously, all versions of the Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster are anticipated to get this update at the same time.
