Sung Jin-Woo’s Betrayal: Will He Leave Korea?

Summary

  • Sung Jin-Woo went from E-rank to S-rank, surprising everyone in Korea and around the world.
  • Despite tempting offers, Jin-Woo chooses to stay in Korea and protect his family and friends.
  • Jin-Woo’s immense power changes how he is perceived, making all the private guilds in Korea want to recruit him.

Initially, in the world of Solo Leveling, Sung Jin-Woo was overlooked because of his low level and feeble abilities. Not even prestigious Korean guilds showed any interest in Jin-Woo, leaving him with no choice but to serve under the Hunter Association. However, following the revelation of his exceptional talents, there’s speculation about whether he might turn against Korea and team up with an international guild like Hwang Dong-Soo from the Scavenger Guild.

The stunning transformation of Sung Jin-Woo from a lowly E-rank to an elite S-rank hunter left both civilians and fellow hunters stunned. This achievement made him the tenth S-rank hunter hailing from Korea, capturing global attention in addition to local admiration. His unique case is notable because he progressed from E-rank to S-rank, a path rarely taken by hunters. Naturally, everyone is watching Jin-Woo closely, particularly after the events of the fourth Jeju Island raid as depicted in Solo Leveling.

How Korea Sees Hunter Sung Jin-Woo

The Country Only Acknowledges the Strong

Sung Jin-Woo is now on a path to redemption and reveling in triumph, having been promoted to Korea’s newest S-rank hunter. After overcoming numerous perilous situations that pushed him close to death, his progress is truly remarkable. Known earlier as “The Weakest Hunter of All Mankind,” the transformed Jin-Woo acknowledges that survival demands strength, especially in a harsh world like Korea’s.

Although some people supported him, numerous others ridiculed his apparent weaknesses. Hunters, for instance, would secretly belittle him, casting aspersions on his low status, seemingly unaware he could overhear them. In public, they feigned kindness and concern, but behind closed doors, they mocked his struggles to stay alive. Regrettably, Jin-Woo discovered this harsh reality through countless instances of deception, particularly during the double dungeon episode.

Sung Jin-Woo Has the Last Laugh

The Plot Twist

In an astonishing twist of events, the very nation that once overlooked me, Jin-Woo, has undergone a remarkable shift in perception. The formidable power I’ve cultivated has opened doors for me, enabling me to reverse my fortunes spectacularly. Now, it seems I’m the one having the last laugh! Every secretive guild in Korea is vying for my services, and even the most skilled hunters quiver at the mention of my name. It’s as if I’ve become a figure of awe, a phenomenon that once ignored, is now impossible to ignore. The days of doubting or denying my extraordinary abilities are long gone.

It seems likely that we may encounter more difficulties down the line, and it’s hard to predict the toll these obstacles might take on us.

Everyone, including the head of the Hunter’s Association, is keen for Jin-Woo and his unique skills to stay in Korea. After all, he’s the only hunter in the nation who can solo clear an S-rank dungeon gate. In terms of effectiveness on the battlefield, he might as well be a hundred, or even more than a thousand, regular hunters combined. If Jin-Woo chooses to emulate Hunter Hwang Dong-Soo, Korea could stand to lose a truly valuable national resource.

So, Will Jin-Woo Betray Korea?

To Stay or Not to Stay?

Despite having numerous motives for betraying Korea, it’s clear that Sung Jin-Woo remains loyal to his country. As we delve deeper into the story of ‘Solo Leveling’, we discover that Jin-Woo will continue residing in Korea, safeguarding both his family and friends. He has given his word to Chairman Go Gun-Hee, who asked him to stand by humanity until the end. Granted, Jin-Woo didn’t accept this offer without some form of compensation.

To show his gratitude for Jin-Woo’s unwavering allegiance to the country, Go Gun-Hee found ways to bend certain rules within the Hunter Association, even though there were whispers of disapproval from the national assembly. He offered Jin-Woo a unique privilege – the chance to solo-raid a dungeon within the Association, an opportunity typically reserved for groups due to the varying degrees of danger. Given Jin-Woo’s exceptional ability to summon shadows as allies, he was well-equipped to handle even the most challenging gates with his companions.

Speak a single word swiftly, and you’ll be instantly granted U.S. citizenship,” said Michael Connor to Sung Jin-Woo.

Even though both America and Japan made appealing proposals for Jin-Woo to relocate abroad and join an international guild, he consistently refused. The allure of citizenship for Jin-Woo and his family from America, as well as Japan’s willingness to forfeit their ownership of the magical crystals mined in Jeju Island, were strong incentives. If these offers don’t illustrate Jin-Woo’s value, then we’re unsure what else could.

Despite the unfavorable structure of the hunter community in Korea, Jin-Woo decided to stick around due to a select few who significantly impacted his life. These individuals were so influential that, in their absence, Jin-Woo might have sought opportunities elsewhere – perhaps China, America, or another location promising challenges and excitement. Given Jin-Woo’s apparent passion for personal growth in the world of Solo Leveling, it makes sense he would be drawn to such environments.
