This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling series.
Since its release in 2024, Solo Leveling has become incredibly popular in the anime world. The series continued to grow, reaching even greater heights with the release of its fantastic second season in the following year. Much of its appeal comes from the beloved main character, Sung Jinwoo.
Sung Jinwoo is a hugely popular character with anime fans worldwide, loved for his strong personality and incredible fighting skills – he’s considered the perfect example of a powerful protagonist. While the original Solo Leveling story in both novel and comic form has finished, its recent surge in popularity suggests we might see more adventures with Jinwoo in the future. There’s already Solo Leveling Ragnarok, which will likely become an anime and continue Jinwoo’s story alongside Suho’s, and rumors point to a completely new sequel being developed as well.
Solo Leveling Author Confirms A New Potential Sequel
Jinwoo’s Story Should Continue Beyond Solo Leveling
- A new Sung Jinwoo story would be fantastic
- Fans want a true Chugong sequel
Fans of Solo Leveling will be happy to hear the author is planning to expand the story’s universe with a direct sequel to the original web novel. While Sung Jinwoo’s initial story wrapped up with the end of the main series, there hasn’t been a true follow-up until now.

Chugong now thinks a sequel is likely. He’s even considered writing it himself, but it’s unclear how far along those plans are, or if it will actually happen. Here’s what he said about the possibility:
Chugong created ‘Ragnarok’ as a treat for fans of ‘Solo Leveling,’ and was interested to see another author’s take on the world. While it takes place in the ‘Solo Leveling’ universe, it doesn’t follow the main storyline directly—think of it as an alternate version of events, like the different universes in Marvel stories. Chugong is also considering writing a follow-up story himself.
Solo Leveling Ragnarok Features Sung Jinwoo As Well
Solo Leveling Has Multiple Universes
Even if there isn’t a direct sequel to the Solo Leveling web novel, Sung Jinwoo’s adventures aren’t over. The story continues in Solo Leveling Ragnarok, and it’s highly probable that Ragnarok will get its own anime series after the original Solo Leveling anime finishes.
Each time I grow stronger I feel like I lose a part of myself. — Sung Jinwoo
Fans can expect to see Jinwoo appear from time to time. Though he won’t be the main character, he’ll still be present in the story and his impact will be noticeable.
Fans may not always want to accept it, but Sung Jinwoo’s story isn’t over. It will continue within the Solo Leveling world, either through a new book by Chugong or an anime based on Solo Leveling Ragnarok. Ideally, fans will get to experience both! For now, all they can do is be patient and wait for more news from the author. The wait might be a while, but exciting things seem to be coming for Solo Leveling fans.
There are currently two seasons of Solo Leveling available to stream, with a total of 25 episodes. You can watch it on Crunchyroll.
