Summary
- Super Cube, a Chinese animated series, offers top-tier animation & compelling action sequences.
- The storyline centers on Wang Xiaoxiu, an underdog turned powerful hero, armed with a supernatural artifact.
- While the animation shines, the plot of Super Cube may feel rushed.
The second installment of Solo Leveling certainly didn’t disappoint, captivating viewers for numerous weeks. However, now that Season 2 of this widely-loved manhwa adaptation has wrapped up, enthusiasts are eagerly searching for another thrilling action series. While there are many excellent action anime currently available, the one that took everyone by surprise is unquestionably Super Cube.
To clarify, “Super Cube” doesn’t originate from Japan; on the contrary, it comes from China. Despite this, its stylish animation and action sequences that border on the excessive have made it a sensation among anime enthusiasts. The animated series has released seven episodes thus far and is being likened to shows such as “Solo Leveling” and “Jujutsu Kaisen”. Although the storyline of “Super Cube” might seem hasty, the animation quality in the anime certainly warrants all the applause.
Super Cube Is About An Average Boy Who Stumbles Upon A High-Dimensional Artifact
An Underdog Who Rises Up To Become The Strongest
Super Cube, originating from the Chinese Manhua by Shuiluo Sheng Sheng, revolves around a timid young boy named Wang Xiaoxiu. He’s often too afraid to confront his tormentors. However, his world changes when he discovers that his long-time crush, Shen Yao, feels the same way about him. Gathering newfound courage, Wang doesn’t fight for himself but to protect Shen Yao’s honor. An unexpected twist unfolds when Wang stumbles upon a mysterious artifact from another dimension – the Super Cube.
It appears that this Cube may have originated from a highly intelligent alien civilization, bestowing extraordinary powers upon its wielder. As soon as Wang interacts with the object, he acquires the ability to transport over vast distances. Furthermore, his strength and speed skyrocket, transforming him into nearly superhuman. However, there’s a condition – Wang must gather various gems or stones to unlock the cube’s full capabilities. The more gemstones he accumulates for the Cube, the greater his powers grow.
As I delved deeper into mastering these freshly-uncovered abilities, the Cube and I were becoming one. But just as I was getting used to it, fate took an unexpected turn. Shen Yao, my beloved, was abducted by Yan Luo, a man harboring a long-standing grudge against someone from our past – Xigu Qin. You see, years ago, Xigu Qin had rescued Shen Yao from a similar fate, and in retaliation, Yan Luo suffered at his hands, losing several fingers.
Now, Yan Luo sought revenge by capturing Shen Yao, aiming to draw Xigu Qin into the open world. Little did he know, he was stirring up another powerful adversary – me, Wang Xiaoxiu. Once labeled a coward, I found within myself a strength and courage I never knew I possessed. Determined to save Shen Yao, I stepped forward, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, leading us all into a thrilling sequence of battles.
Super Cube Offers World-Class Animation, But The Story Needs To Get Better
The Story Does Get Better In Manhua, Though
The animation in the anime “Super Cube” truly deserves all the acclaim it receives. Each frame in this show is a testament to artistic talent – Episode 7, in particular, is likely to be remembered as one of the most impressive pieces of animation from 2025. This episode was an uninterrupted action sequence that leaves you eagerly anticipating what’s next. Notably, it was the intense fight scene in Episode 7 that contributed significantly to the anime’s popularity within the community. However, it seems that a bit more focus could be given to the development of the storyline in “Super Cube”.
As a die-hard fan of anime, I must admit that the visuals in “Super Cube” are nothing short of remarkable, pushing the boundaries of Japanese animation. However, the narrative seems to be a whirlwind of events, leaving me somewhat disoriented. The protagonist, Wang, adapts to the Cube and the existence of super-powered beings in this world far too swiftly, which is a bit perplexing.
The series introduces a myriad of enemy types and secretive organizations at an alarming rate, making it challenging for viewers to keep pace. Despite the fantastic animation and thrilling fight scenes that keep me hooked every step of the way, “Super Cube” struggles to hold its own without a compelling storyline to back it up.
Luckily, there are plenty of mysteries and intriguing plotlines left unexplored in the series, which promises to keep viewers engaged in upcoming episodes. For one, characters like Xigu Qin, a seemingly overpowered individual who bears a striking resemblance to Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, might pique the curiosity of fans. All things considered, Super Cube boasts significant potential not just in terms of its animation but also in its storyline. The Manhua initially faced similar criticism, but as it unfolded, its narrative proved to be quite captivating. Here’s hoping that the Chinese anime adaptation will earn more fan appreciation and allow us to delve deeper into Wang’s story across multiple seasons.
You can watch all episodes of Super Cube exclusively on the iQIYI streaming service.
