Super Mario Bros. Wonder Just Got Yet Another New Update

Super Mario Bros. Wonder has received a version 1.2.0 update on both Nintendo Switch and the original Switch. Released in 2023, this is the newest 2D installment starring Mario. After a series of New Super Mario Bros. games, Nintendo decided to try something different. Super Mario Bros. Wonder maintains the classic platforming gameplay that fans have loved since 1985, but the team at Nintendo EPD added several new features to make the game feel innovative and exciting.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder introduced exciting new power-ups like the Elephant Fruit and Bubble Flower, helping it stand out from other recent Mario games. Unlike many of the New Super Mario Bros. titles which felt similar, Wonder has a unique identity. The Elephant power-up quickly became popular with fans and even inspired new merchandise. Beyond the new power-ups and enemies, the game’s improved animation also set it apart. Mario and other characters move more smoothly, giving the game a visual style reminiscent of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder Patch Notes

Super Mario Bros. Wonder has received a new update, version 1.2.0, which seems to be preparing the game for a potential release on the Nintendo Switch 2. A new version, Super Mario Bros. Wonder — Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, is now available and adds a lot of fresh content. While much of the new content enhances multiplayer, there are also some new challenges for single-player mode involving the Koopalings. The update also introduces a brand-new power-up and allows players to control Rosalina and Luma. However, the Switch 2 content isn’t free – it costs $19.99. A physical copy of the game is also available for those who didn’t previously own it on the original Switch.

Okay, so I was watching the trailer for Super Mario Bros. Wonder on the new Switch 2, and I totally didn’t expect to see Pikmin characters pop up! It kinda makes sense, since the game takes place in a flower-filled kingdom, but it was still a cool surprise. It doesn’t seem like a huge crossover or anything, just a fun little nod to both franchises. I always thought Pikmin was a great series, but it hasn’t gotten the same attention as Mario. Hopefully, seeing them team up will get some more people interested in checking out the Pikmin games on Switch – they’re really good!

Okay, so Nintendo just dropped an update for Super Mario Bros. Wonder that feels totally timed with the new Super Mario Bros. Movie hitting theaters. It’s a smart move – they’ve had success with adding content to good games since the Switch launched. But honestly, as a huge Mario fan, I’m still really hoping for a brand new 3D Mario game for the Switch 2. I’ve been hearing rumors about one, and fingers crossed Nintendo actually confirms something soon. We’re all starting to wonder what they have planned for late 2026, and I’m dying to know!
