Super Mario Party Jamboree Can Set the World on Fire By Copying Mario Kart

Super Mario Party Jamboree Can Set the World on Fire By Copying Mario Kart

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Mario Party under my belt, I must say that the anticipation for Super Mario Party Jamboree is electrifying! With its promise to deliver more characters, boards, and minigames than ever before, it’s shaping up to be the ultimate Mario Party experience.

26 years ago, I found myself drawn into the vibrant world of the Mario Party series with its debut in 1998. Over the decades, we’ve seen a staggering ten mainline entries and almost as many spinoffs grace our screens. Although each new installment has generally received consistent praise from critics, some recurring concerns have begun to surface as the series evolves.

Ever since the unveiling back in June, Nintendo has been eager to emphasize the grand scale of “Super Mario Party Jamboree.” The reveal trailer meticulously outlined how this latest installment is set to be the largest gathering yet, featuring an unprecedented number of characters, game boards, and minigames. If all goes according to plan, “Super Mario Party Jamboree” could emerge as a standout title within the franchise.

Super Mario Party Jamboree Should Follow In Mario Kart 8’s Footsteps

Super Mario Party Jamboree Could Be Even Bigger With DLC

The upcoming game, “Super Mario Party Jamboree“, is poised to break records as the most comprehensive installment in the series so far. In this new release, you’ll find at least 22 playable characters, five fresh boards, two revamped boards, and over 110 minigames that cater to both motion-controlled games and those without motion control. Moreover, it offers game modes like 1v3, 2v2, and classic free-for-alls. Preliminary indications suggest that “Super Mario Party Jamboree” might strike the ideal equilibrium between fresh and remade content. On release day alone, fans will have more than enough exciting content to dive into.

Speaking of which, if Nintendo chose to do so, they could easily transform “Super Mario Party Jamboree” into an all-encompassing experience that spans multiple years, similar to how “Mario Kart 8” did before it. Initially, when “Mario Kart 8” debuted in 2014, it had a decent blend of original and remade tracks. However, with additional DLC content at launch, the game evolved into something more complete. The “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” edition for Nintendo Switch solidified this comprehensive status for the game.

In February 2022, about eight years after its initial launch, it was announced that the Booster Course Pass DLC for “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” would be released. Over the period from March 2022 to November 2023, the game received a total of 12 cups, 48 new tracks, and 8 additional playable characters, effectively doubling the content in this ten-year-old game.

As the Nintendo Switch’s successor is eventually unveiled, there will likely be a fresh installment of the beloved game, “Mario Kart”. However, this release won’t diminish the fact that “Mario Kart 8” has reigned supreme as the ultimate “Mario Kart” adventure for the past ten years. Similarly, if “Super Mario Party Jamboree” adopts a similar strategy with a potential remaster for Switch 2 and post-launch content updates, it could establish itself as the definitive “Mario Party” experience for many years to come.

Super Mario Party Jamboree Has No Shortage of DLC Possibilities

It’s great news that Super Mario Party Jamboree offers a lot of opportunities for additional content, allowing it to become the ultimate Mario Party experience. Similar to how the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe extends its lifespan, any DLC for Super Mario Party Jamboree could provide years’ worth of content to refresh, and incorporating new game boards and minigames that are both remakes and originals would satisfy fans with a mix of the old and new.
