Supernatural Is Back With A Brand New Comic Series

Summary

  • After 15 seasons and a failed spinoff with The Winchesters, Supernatural is returning with new stories.
  • A new comic book set between seasons 1 and 2 of Supernatural is coming from a lauded creative team.
  • A comic book is a nice continuation, but fans may want a Supernatural revival series.

As a devoted movie critic, I eagerly anticipate the revival of the captivating series, “Supernatural.” Throughout its remarkable 15-season journey, this horror show has endeared itself to countless viewers worldwide. The narrative followed the thrilling escapades of Sam and Dean Winchester, two brothers who dedicated their lives to combatting an array of supernatural forces – demons, vampires, angels, and more. With a perfect blend of humor and profound emotional depth, “Supernatural” consistently delivered engaging episodes that left fans craving for more. However, the upcoming series may veer from the familiar path, offering unexpected twists that will surely intrigue long-time viewers.

The franchise has branched out into numerous media platforms such as comics, novels, and an animated series. In addition, attempts have been made to create spin-offs for “Supernatural,” though these have generally received mixed reviews. Yet, fans are eagerly awaiting fresh tales from this beloved show, although it might not be the continuation of Sam and Dean that they were anticipating.

Supernatural Has Tried And Failed To Continue With Spinoffs

The Winchesters Really Wasn’t The Answer

In the course of Supernatural’s run, multiple attempts were made to produce spinoffs. One such attempt was during the thirteenth season, with an episode serving as a trial run for Wayward Sisters, which proposed a series centered around recurring character Sheriff Jody Mills and a group of female protagonists. Unfortunately, this concept didn’t get picked up by The CW, much like another spinoff idea presented in season 9 called Supernatural: Bloodlines, which aimed to create a gangster crime drama with supernatural beings leading the criminal underworld of Chicago.

The show titled “The Winchesters” served as a spin-off from the finale of “Supernatural,” acting as both a sequel and prequel by delving into the story of John and Mary, the parents of Sam and Dean. Regrettably, it only managed to air for one season, falling short of replicating the enchantment of its original series. Despite this, the dedicated fanbase of “Supernatural” may see these characters resurface in a different form or spin-off at some point. There have been whispers about a revival series, but no official confirmation has yet been given. For now, fans can look forward to a fresh “Supernatural” series that might quench their thirst for more stories from this universe.

Supernatural Is Coming Back With A Unique New Comic Book Set During The Show

It Offers Up The Freedom Necessary To Tell Interesting Stories

The horror show “Supernatural” is planning to share fresh tales from its television run in a brand-new comic book series. In the past, this series has appeared in comics, and the upcoming books will offer a special perspective for fans. Thanks to collaborations with WB and Dynamite Entertainment (via SuperHeroHype), the new comic books will concentrate on stories taking place between seasons 1 and 2 of the long-lasting series. Since these comics fall within the “Supernatural” timeline, characters like John Winchester, Meg, and Azazel – who were significant during the season 1 finale – are likely to play key roles in the comic books beyond Sam and Dean.

The new comic book based on Supernatural is set to launch in October. This exciting venture is penned by acclaimed writer Greg Pak and illustrated by artist Eder Messias. Notably, Pak has made significant contributions to series like Planet Hulk, World War Hulk, and Star Wars: Darth Vader, while Messias has worked on Spider-Man, Moon Knight, and Predator among others. Interestingly, the duo have collaborated before, notably on Captain America. Pak expresses his enthusiasm for the project, stating “For fans of Supernatural, knowing the show is a thrill, it’s a tremendous honor to delve into this captivating universe.” The author also assures enthusiasts of the show that they will not be disappointed.

We’re going for fun and grounded, and then we’re going to absolutely cut loose when the time comes.

A Supernatural Comic Is Great, But Fans Still Want A Proper Follow-Up To The Show

Way More People Watch Television, After All

As a die-hard Supernatural fan, I can’t help but reminisce about the incredible journey of Sam and Dean Winchester, even though some spinoffs didn’t take flight, and The Winchesters sadly didn’t make it past the runway. Yet, the undying love for this series has kept its legacy burning brightly, with fans revisiting episodes time and again. An intriguing fan-made video game called Unnatural is even in development, further cementing the show’s enduring appeal. When a show manages to last as long as Supernatural, it’s because it has something special – and Sam and Dean have consistently shown that they are that magic. Though fans appreciate the occasional foray into new territories, it’s the heartwarming brotherly bond at the core of the series that truly resonates with us. While I’m hopeful about potential spinoff shows, a revival series would be the ultimate dream – bringing back our beloved characters for more unforgettable episodes.

I’ve heard whispers of a potential revival series for Supernatural, a notion that seems to resonate with Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and even Misha Collins, who plays Castiel. In a recent interview during our 20th anniversary celebration (as reported by Tech Advisor), the three of us shared similar sentiments about the possibility.

Over the past two decades, we’ve all aged significantly. I’m not sure if I still have the energy for 22 more episodes of Supernatural. A mini-series might be more suitable instead.

The actors who starred in “Supernatural” have enjoyed success beyond the show. Jensen Ackles is now part of “The Boys,” and both Jared Padalecki and Collins are expected to join him, as they share the same creator for this superhero series. Meanwhile, Padalecki has also found success with “Walker,” and Ackles has lent his voice to Batman in recent years for DC productions. Despite their busy schedules, these actors remain close and seem to cherish the show just as much as fans do, which leaves open the possibility of a revival anytime. Although an official revival series hasn’t been announced yet, “Supernatural” fans can look forward to comics that further explore the horror universe they love.
