Surprise New Xbox Game Pass Game Confirmed for July 24

Highlights

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on July 24.
  • Modern Warfare 3 will be available across all non-Core tiers of Xbox Game Pass.
  • Microsoft hasn’t yet confirmed whether the shooter will have Xbox Cloud Gaming support.

As a long-time gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I’m thrilled to hear that Xbox Game Pass is adding yet another classic title to its ever-growing library – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3! The anticipation builds as the release date draws nearer, and I can hardly wait for July 24.

On July 24, Microsoft has revealed that Xbox Game Pass will include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This unexpected addition makes it the 12th new game to join Xbox Game Pass in July 2024.

As an avid Xbox Game Pass subscriber, I’m used to Microsoft releasing new games every two weeks. But every now and then, the company shocks us fans by unexpectedly adding some titles to our library. Sometimes, they give us a heads up with a quick announcement, but other times, these games just magically appear without any warning – a delightful surprise!

Modern Warfare 3 Coming to Xbox Game Pass, But It May Not Have Cloud Support

Microsoft confirmed on July 24, 2023 that “Modern Warfare 3” from the popular “Call of Duty” series will join Xbox Game Pass. This update applies to PC and console subscribers in all tiers except Core. However, there was no mention of Xbox Cloud Gaming support in Microsoft’s announcement, which follows a similar pattern set by their May 2024 confirmation for “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.” Given the multiplayer-centric nature and competitive shooters’ limited compatibility with streaming services, it’s likely that the 2023 first-person shooter may not support Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch.

As a longtime fan of the Call of Duty series and an avid Xbox Game Pass subscriber, I’m thrilled to hear that Modern Warfare 3 is expected to be the next Activision Blizzard game to join Microsoft’s subscription catalog. Having closely followed the gaming industry for years, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement at this development.

There could be an additional Activision Blizzard game added to Xbox Game Pass before “Modern Warfare 3” and “Black Ops 6”, with “Black Ops 6” set to release on October 25. For instance, Spanish YouTuber eXtas1s claims that “Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy” will join Xbox Game Pass in August 2024. Notably, eXtas1s has a strong reputation for accurate leaks, having previously revealed the Xbox Game Pass releases of several other titles including “Modern Warfare 3”, “Soul Hackers 2”, “Tchia”, and “Lords of the Fallen”.

Microsoft’s subscription service has brought on board 11 new games this month so far, with Capcom’s action-strategy hybrid “Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess” being the most recent addition on July 19. However, starting from July 31, Xbox Game Pass will bid farewell to three titles – “A Short Hike,” “Venba,” and “Train Sim World 4.”
