Nintendo recently showcased upcoming third-party games for the Switch 2, scheduled for release in 2026. A major title is The Duskbloods, a new game from FromSoftware directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. Previous Nintendo consoles, like the Wii and Wii U, didn’t receive much support from third-party developers, but the Switch changed that. The Switch 2 is already seeing strong third-party support, launching with popular games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut.
The Switch 2 continues to receive strong support from third-party game developers. While some games are released exclusively on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, many are launching simultaneously on the Switch 2. The number of third-party games may decrease when the PlayStation 6 and next Xbox are released, but Switch 2 owners can expect a good selection of games for the next few years.
Nintendo has announced that three major games from other companies are planned for release on the Switch 2 in 2026. A recent promotional video highlighted The Duskbloods, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, and Resident Evil Requiem. Resident Evil Requiem will launch on the Switch 2 simultaneously with other platforms, and The Duskbloods will be a console exclusive.
Of the three upcoming Switch 2 games showcased by Nintendo for 2026, The Duskbloods is generating the most excitement. Created by Hidetaka Miyazaki – the acclaimed developer behind Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring – The Duskbloods is an 8-player action role-playing game that blends player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) gameplay. It looks and feels similar to Miyazaki’s most popular titles. While some fans of his previous work are concerned about the game’s focus on multiplayer, Miyazaki’s reputation for quality is reassuring.
Switch 2 is Getting FF7 Remake and Resident Evil Requiem Back-to-Back
The release date for The Duskbloods is still unknown, but we now know when Switch 2 owners can play Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Resident Evil Requiem. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade arrives on January 22nd, and Resident Evil Requiem will launch on February 27th, the same day it comes out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is the complete version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, including new content with the Yuffie DLC that connects it to the upcoming game, Rebirth. Resident Evil Requiem is the newest main installment in the Resident Evil series. Players will control Leon S. Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft in a game that mixes the traditional scary atmosphere of survival horror with the fast-paced action seen in games like Resident Evil 4.
The Switch 2 will launch with more than just Resident Evil Requiem. Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village are also coming to the console on the same day. And, in summer 2026, the first Resident Evil amiibo figures will be released, starting with a figure of Grace Ashcroft.
Since its release, the Switch 2 has been incredibly popular, and Nintendo, along with its game development partners, plans to keep that success going throughout 2026. We already know about upcoming first-party games like Mario Tennis Fever and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which are scheduled to launch in the first half of the year. However, Nintendo hasn’t yet revealed what other games they have in store for the rest of 2026.
