Sword of Convallaria: Pity Explained

Sword of Convallaria: Pity Explained

As a seasoned gacha game enthusiast with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Sword of Convallaria has managed to catch my attention with its unique approach to pity systems. Coming from games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail where the pity system is more straightforward, SoC’s dual pities (Universal and Banner-specific) add an intriguing layer of complexity.

In this freshly launched game called “Sword of Convallaria: For This World of Peace”, you’ll find a charming pixelated art style and strategic turn-based battles reminiscent of “Final Fantasy Tactics”. If you’re planning to dive deep into SoC, understanding the mechanics of its banner system, which characters are worth acquiring, and how the pity system operates is crucial.

In contrast to games like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Wuthering Waves, the game Sword of Convallaria approaches pity differently. It has two primary types of pity systems: Universal Pity and Banner-specific Pity. Let’s take a look at how they function.

How Does Universal Pity Work in Sword of Convallaria

Sword of Convallaria: Pity Explained

  • Guaranteed Legendary per 100 pulls (any banner).

In simpler terms, “Universal Pity” is an account-wide mechanism that triggers whenever you summon a character or weapon using the “Secret Fates” feature. This mechanism gradually increases each time you pull on any banner from the Summoning menu, including standard, single rate-up, double rate-up, and weapon banners. Once the accumulated count reaches 100, you are guaranteed to receive a top-tier (SSR) character or weapon. This tally resets whenever you get an SSR from any banner.

Players can check current Universal Pity any time by opening History in the Summon tab.

How Does Banner-Specific Pity Work in Sword of Convallaria

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that aside from the event banners, there are five distinct banners where I can summon characters. Each of these banners has its unique ‘guarantee system’, also known as pity, which is exclusive only to the specific banner and doesn’t carry over to any other banners.

Guaranteed First Summon Banner

  • Guaranteed random Legendary in 30 pulls.

For brand new players, there’s a special offer called the First Summon Banner. This banner lets you do three sets of ten draws, after which it vanishes. If you’re lucky enough to get a Legendary character in any of your first two sets of ten draws, the banner will end early. On your third set of ten draws, though, you’re guaranteed to get a Legendary character.

Single Rate-Up Banner Pity (Debut Banner)

  • Guaranteed rate-up Legendary in 180 pulls.

The Debut Banner provides a 50% chance for players to receive the special character whenever they draw a Legendary character from this banner. But, if you pull a Legendary character that isn’t the special one from the banner, there’s no guarantee that the second Legendary character you get from the same banner will be the special one. The banner featured Legendary is only guaranteed on the 180th draw.

Double Rate-Up Banner Pity (Destined Banner)

  • Guaranteed one of the two rate-up Legendaries in 180 pulls.

In this game, the Fated Banner gives you a 3 out of 4 chance to acquire one of the two legendary characters showcased in the banner after your 180th draw. The lucky character you get is entirely random and not something you can choose; it’s all down to chance. Unlike games such as Genshin Impact or HSR, there are no Constellations or similar mechanics that encourage pulling duplicate characters. Additionally, Sword of Convallaria doesn’t guarantee that you won’t receive the same rate-up legendary twice from the double rate-up banner, making draws from this banner even riskier.

Standard Banner: Fateful Summon

  • Guaranteed random Legendary character in 180 pulls (100 if using Universal Pity)

All characters from the banner have an equal chance of being obtained, including Gloria.)

Standard Banner: Mighty Weapon

  • Guaranteed random Legendary weapon in 180 pulls (100 if using Universal Pity)

As a free-to-play gamer, I’d advise you to focus on completing in-game missions to earn those coveted Legendary weapons. However, if you’re eyeing that shiny banner, it might be more suitable for those who are willing to invest a bit more.
