How to Fish in Tales of the Shire
In the initial stages of the game, you’ll stumble upon a fishing rod while on the “Finding Your Feet” mission. During this quest, interact with Old Noakes when you’re searching for the Old Book of Rules. Although he won’t assist you in finding the book, he’ll instruct you about fishing instead. He’ll hand over a fishing rod and lead you to Old Ruby’s Pond. Once you’ve caught three fish in this pond, the fishing rod will be permanently unlocked for your use at any time.

After obtaining your fishing rod, you’re free to fish at any open fishing spots right away. Initially, fans of “Tales of the Shire” will be limited to a handful of locations, such as Old Ruby’s Pond, Old Stone Bridge Pool, Tree Root Pool, and Cotton Farm Pond.
In order to enhance your fishing rod, you first have to improve the Fishing Club. To do this, you’ll initially need to accomplish the “Restore the Fishing Club” quest, and once unlocked, you can advance its level by capturing more fish.
