Tango Gameworks Acquired By PUBG Publisher Krafton

Tango Gameworks Acquired By PUBG Publisher Krafton

As a long-time fan of Tango Gameworks and their unique take on horror and action games, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing the news of their acquisition by Krafton. On one hand, it’s great to see such a talented team getting the resources they need to continue creating amazing experiences. On the other hand, I’ve been following Tango Gameworks since The Evil Within and have grown attached to them like an old friend.

It’s been confirmed that Tango Gameworks, a renowned video game developer, is now under new ownership. The news comes after Krafton, who publishes PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), announced its acquisition of the studio from Microsoft.

In what is being classified as a “strategic agreement”, the deal also includes the Hi-Fi Rush IP.

In accordance with this strategic partnership, Krafton plans to work alongside Xbox and ZeniMax to facilitate a seamless transition and preserve consistency at Tango Gameworks. This will enable their skilled team to carry on developing the Hi-Fi Rush intellectual property as well as pursue new projects in the future, according to the company’s statement.

“Krafton plans to assist the Tango Gameworks team in their mission to keep pushing boundaries and offer unique, thrilling gameplay experiences for enthusiasts.”

From my perspective as an ardent gamer, I’m thrilled to share that despite the recent acquisition of Tango Gameworks by Krafton, the development of games like The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo remains unaffected.

“This collaboration underscores Krafton’s commitment to growing worldwide and improving their offerings by incorporating fresh, top-tier content. Acquiring Tango Gameworks is a smart move that aligns with Krafton’s goal of pioneering the frontiers in gaming.”

In a statement about the partnership, Microsoft expressed that they are collaborating with Krafton to allow the Tango Gameworks team to jointly develop more games. They are eagerly anticipating the release of their next fantastic creation.

Back in May, I learned that among the four gaming studios being shut down by Microsoft, mine – Tango Gameworks – was unfortunately one of them. The others were Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Studios, and Roundhouse Games.

Financials on the deal were not provided as part of the announcement on Sunday evening.
