Tarkov Players Are Compensated For ‘Profile Wipe’ Error, But It’s Still No Good

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours poured into Escape from Tarkov over the past six months, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing about the recent ‘profile reset’ malfunction and its subsequent compensation package. On one hand, I appreciate Battlestate Games’ efforts to make amends for their mistake, offering an impressive in-game windfall that would normally take years to accumulate.


Battlestate Games has acknowledged that only certain players experienced issues due to a recent ‘character reset’ glitch. Unfortunately, those affected by this unintended data loss have not been able to recover the advancements they made over the past six months, amounting to numerous hours of gameplay for some individuals. However, these impacted players have received a generous in-game compensation package, which includes a significant sum of money and enhancements to their skills.

Here’s what Battlestate Games handed down instead of an apology for this devastating malfunction:

  • 50,000 USD
  • 50,000 EUR
  • All Labs keycards
  • 4 x Money Case
  • DSPT
  • Reserve Marked Keys
  • All skills LL45
  • All Traders maxed

Despite the recent changes in compensation, some players who had their accounts wiped at a lower level and tier are now receiving excessive rewards within the game.

Despite the remaining time being just a week or two until ‘wipe’, there’s a significant imbalance affecting the game right now, causing havoc within the in-game trading system. Nowadays, virtually everything is astronomically overpriced.

It’s not certain how many gamers were affected because Battlestate Games hasn’t been open about the problem, and they haven’t issued an apology for the loss either. Interestingly, some players are unhappy with the compensation, saying they would have preferred if their account had been wiped instead, given that this is the reimbursement for experiencing such an issue.
