TCL Class QM7-Series 4K QD-Mini LED TV Review

TCL Class QM7-Series 4K QD-Mini LED TV Review

As a dedicated gamer and tech enthusiast, I’ve had my fair share of TVs that left me wanting more when it came to gaming. However, the TCL Class QM7-Series 4K UHD HDR QD-Mini LED Smart Google TV has truly turned the tables for me!

It makes perfect sense that TCL, well-known for its consumer electronics such as televisions, mobile phones, and tablets, would continue its collaboration with the highly successful and widely recognized video game franchise, Call of Duty. Just as Black Ops 6 has earned significant acclaim, so too does one of TCL’s latest releases: the Class QM7-Series 4K UHD HDR QD-Mini LED Smart Google TV from 2024. This new television is an ideal choice for entertainment and gaming in general, but it truly shines when used with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Straight from the get-go, it’s evident that TCL focuses on the convenience of its consumers. The process of removing and setting up this TV is simplified to the maximum, with even the large 65-inch model being surprisingly lightweight. This makes mounting it to a wall or assembling its stand a hassle-free task. For safety precautions, always have two people handling the TV during setup. Despite its compact size, neither person will feel undue strain. Additionally, users can choose between on-screen instructions or a mobile app for setup, ensuring you’re ready to go in around 30 minutes after unboxing the TV.

It’s important for consumers to know that wall mounts aren’t included with the purchase of this TV, and they should make sure the mount can support its weight before installation.

This innovative setup transforms your living room into a genuine cinematic environment, significantly bridging the gap between theater and home viewing. The clarity of every single frame is so vivid that ‘crisp’ seems almost inadequate; it’s hard to find words to describe how superior this TV’s picture and shadow detail is compared to other TCL models and its competitors. Transitioning from a standard HD smart TV to this 4K UHD HDR QD-Mini LED is immediately apparent, and the difference is striking. It might not be as drastic as moving from radio to television, but it’s certainly substantial enough to justify an upgrade. The Class QM7-Series 4K UHD HDR QD-Mini LED Smart Google TV is undeniably worth the investment, given its exceptional image quality alone.

On this TCL TV, the image clarity is sharp, vibrant, and strikingly precise. Unlike certain older models that might find it challenging to distinguish between closely related colors (such as two distinct greens), or dark brown from black, this TV’s colors stand out without any confusion.

Employing exceptional gray-scale and shadow technology, paired with QD-Mini LEDs for intense contrast that maintains the ominous feel of dark, shaded areas while still allowing players a practical view within them. This could potentially revolutionize games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Activision has made significant advancements, but when combined with this TV’s capabilities, it becomes difficult to revert back. The campaign cinematics are more lifelike than ever with the two merged, and even the darkest nighttime missions offer both eerie darkness and crystal-clear visibility. It performs admirably in Black Ops 6‘s Zombies mode as well, where multiple events occur simultaneously, but the TV remains consistent in its performance.

As an avid enthusiast, I can confidently say that what sets the QM7-Series 4K UHD apart from other gaming TVs is its exceptional Game Master feature. Unlike many other gaming TVs that offer a one-size-fits-all “game mode,” this TV goes above and beyond. While most TVs automatically switch to a static “game mode” when you start playing, this isn’t just about automatic adjustments; it’s about giving the player control. The Game Master on this TV offers customizable settings, catering to the preferences that gamers adore.

The Game Master allows players to adjust various settings tailored to their preferences, such as Frame Per Second (FPS), High Dynamic Range (HDR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). It also offers optional features like an Aiming Aid, customizable game visuals, and shadow enhancements. While these adjustments might not drastically alter the gaming experience, they significantly personalize the TV’s performance. For instance, setting Game Picture to RPG can optimize the graphics of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, whereas setting it to FPS can emphasize the already stunning visuals of Black Ops 6. There’s a standard game mode for those seeking a more natural experience, but fine-tuning the TV settings according to the type of game being played maximizes overall performance. Additionally, shadow enhancements enable players to further adjust their shadows after initial setup, offering greater control over their gaming environment.

It’s important to note that the Game Master overlay is quite large, making it primarily useful for quickly checking frame rates, rather than closely monitoring a game’s performance in real-time.

The Aiming Aid was an interesting prospect that we had to check out in Black Ops 6‘s Multiplayer. In short, it ensures there is a large white icon surrounding any weapon’s reticle to help players track enemies and land shots. This is not something like an aim assist, and it’s not going to win anyone any firefights they would’ve lost naturally. However, for those who perhaps struggle to keep up with the fast-paced nature of multiplayer or for those who struggle to see and play FPS games, this feature may go a long way in helping them have fun too. Seeing accessibility features built into a TV is something that would be great to see more of, and that’s pretty much what this Aiming Aid is.

This incredible performance is achieved not just by TCL catering to gamers’ favorite aspect – customization, but also by incorporating features that significantly impact the quality of a gaming session. Rapid reaction times, Variable Refresh Rates at 144Hz, Auto Low Latency Modes, Game Accelerator 240, and many more features make this TV a powerhouse, offering capabilities usually associated with high-end PC monitors and setups. This TV does an exceptional job of blurring the line between console and PC gaming, bringing them closer together.
