As a seasoned gamer with years of Overwatch under my belt, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the unexpected turn of events at the Overwatch Champions Series World Final. Team Falcons, the underdog of the tournament, managed to snatch victory from the jaws of Crazy Raccoon, a team that had previously given them a run for their money in nearly every face-off.
In a thrilling turn of events, Team Falcons emerged victorious in the debut tournament of the Overwatch Champions Series at DreamHack Stockholm. The triumph came after a grueling tournament bracket where Team Falcons overcame formidable opponents such as Twisted Minds, NTMR, and their long-time rival, Crazy Raccoon, to reach the championship match.
In the championship game of the tournament, Team Falcons met up with Crazy Raccoon one last time. The Falcons clinched the match with a decisive 4-1 victory, earning them the majority of the prize money and the inaugural Overwatch Collegiate Series trophy.
Unexpected Ending
At the Overwatch Champions Series World Final, everyone thought Crazy Raccoon would win, being the clear favorite. However, Team Falcons turned out to be a pesky challenge for them instead.
As a die-hard fan this season, I’ve witnessed countless battles between Crazy Raccoon and Team Falcons – the first for OWCS since the downfall of the Overwatch League. In most of these encounters, it was always Crazy Raccoon emerging triumphant. But just when we thought the outcome was predictable, Team Falcons saved their best for last, showing remarkable resilience in the crucial moments.
Over successive matches, Team Falcons managed an impressive 7-1 win streak against Crazy Raccoon, effectively ending a year-long tradition of finishing as runners-up.
More recently, Crazy Raccoon debuted in the Overwatch competition, whereas Team Falcons has been striving to establish itself for some time now. This victory should be a delight to fans, who not long ago were rejoicing over Team Falcons being honored with the Esports Organisation of the Year award at The Esports Awards.
